Set up by Chef Dylan Ong, #themasses keeps to the similar mission of offering quality French food at a highly affordable price, and after trying it today, it has entered my list of favorite restaurants. The #duckconfit is even better than what saveur used to have with a perfectly crisp skin & tender duck meat uniquely paired with flat noodles with strong wok hei flavour. Dylan’s memories was his creative take on scissors curry rice with a delicious sweet-spicy bacon jam providing the “curry” aroma, onsen egg & iberico pork chop. All the components went so well together but we would have preferred that the pork chop had more juicy meatness than the current overly crispness (maybe more like pork tonkotsu than fried pork chop). As a #matchaya fan, I added on matchaya milk tea (+$2) & the hojicha cream tart (+$3). No regrets as the dessert was a wow with the perfect balance of sweet-buttery roasted tea tart & salted milk ice cream. The C&C&C&C starter (+$6) was a yummy mix of caviar, crabmeat, clams & chorizo with angel hair pasta doused in lobster bisque. It was a surprisingly big portion for a starter and would highly recommend it for seafood lovers.
