1-for-1 with #burpplebeyond!

Located at the rooftop of JEM shopping mall, Poppy Pops specializes in homemade gelato popsicles.

Selection of gelato wasn’t extensive, but there were a few interesting ones, like the Pandan cake with real Pandan cake bits. Initially thought it might taste artificial, but surprisingly it resembled the Pandan cake quite well, with a lightly sweet, floral green flavor. Makes a good pairing with the heavier tiramisu flavor, which was intense on the coffee note and a little too sweet for our liking.

We had salted hojicha and s’mores for the other set. While it was quite a good contrast between the sweet caramelic s’mores flavor, the salted hojicha was quite a peculiar one. Perhaps because I have never tasted such a salty roasted green tea, the saltiness came as a shock and probably didn’t blend well with the bitterness of hojicha. Waffles were rather disappointing, not crispy and nobody would expect a soggy waffle.

The staff recommended us their poppy lemonade, which was a blend of blackberry and apple. Refreshing but what you really get was the sour lemonade than the fruitiness from the blend. Also had the iced hojicha latte, which came with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Extra load of creaminess.

Thanks to #burpplebeyond, we had 2 sets of double scoop gelato waffle with drink for the price of 1! However, it was still rather pricey for the standard of desserts served here.
