Located in Shaw Centre, a couple of floors above Les Amis, is @indigobluekitchen, a modern looking space done up in cool, clean tones. The menu is respectably extensive but what’s interesting is they also offer a Tasting Menu ($88++ per pax) which Manager Andrew recommended us as it has many of the restaurant’s signatures. So we went for it.
I have to commend Andrew’s excellent service because once he knew we were also keen on the Nonya Popiah ($16++), he modified our order of 5 x Tasting Menus to 4 as he noted we were a group of five ladies. Furthermore, while the size of the communal-style dishes were apportioned for 4 (which was perfect for us), he had the initiative to keep the individual bites in the appetiser platter for 5.
Our meal kicked off with snacks of prawn and belinjo keropok followed by a large tray with D.I.Y. Kueh Pie Tee, Otah and Ngoh Hiang. They were all good but I thought the Otah stood out especially with its smoky, spice-rich aroma and drier finish. Quite unlike a lot of other spongey or fishcake textures you encounter elsewhere.
