Was facing a dilemma when as I ate this Pink Sauce Pasta ($5.90); don't look down on this simple dish - believe me I was underwhelmed at first impression - because it is really quite a delicious plate of pasta, but it is SO SPICY! 🔥

Using tomato puree, fresh cream, chopped onions, garlic herbs, cheese and parsley, there is a sort of mildly sweet yet savoury mix of flavours, but the chili got really strong for me that I needed to share! A pink plate of pasta this is not, but it sure has a lot of personality. 😂

The carbonara ($5.90), though not the best, is definitely more than decent and very worth it, considering it’s low price. Big eaters can order the chicken chop ($6.90) on top of the carbonara. Request for the mushroom sauce to go with your chicken chop – it emits a hint of truffle that hits the spot. What I do NOT recommend, is Da Bomb ($13.90), a beef/chicken patty (of your choice) with bacon & bbq sauce, wrapped in what seems like pastry puff (i’m not entirely sure about this). It was still worth it for its price, considering you’d probably have to pay $20+ for this at a typical cafe, but it wasn’t satisfying and I’d save my dollars for the chicken chop instead. Truffle lovers can also go for the truffle fries ($4) for a cheap thrill. Again, not the best, but not the worst, and extremely worth it given its low price, and would come back for more. And yes, you CAN taste the truffle flavour without trying to. For $4, that’s good enough for me!

The Fried Mac & Cheese ($4 for 2) is sure to be an attention grabber for mac and cheese or cheese lovers.

I usually expect to find nacho cheese in coffee shop or hawker renditions of mac and cheese - perhaps to keep costs low, which is then personally fine by me by the way - but Fat Monkeys keeps their mac and cheese as the real deal. I do like that it is not dry and is reasonably cheesey. The taste is admittedly nothing too amazing to sing to the heavens for, but I quite like how the shell actually provides a crisp textural contrast to the pasta.

If you think you could do without the deep-frying frills, @fatmonkeyssg also has regular Mac and Cheese for a dollar less, and trust me; the rest of food here, especially the mains, is pretty impressive, and I'll be back for more. 😋

Da Bomb was an interesting albeit pricey experience. Meat and cheese served inside a fried bun. Quite filling. I'm not easily impressed by chicken chop and this version was quite good.
