Trimmed Entrecote Steak ($34.90 for 190g)

Order this at: Glasshouse by DHM
Dubbed the ‘famous L'Entrecôte steak’ by Burppler Ice Blossom, this hunky meat main at Glasshouse by DHM sits high on our list of must-haves on Burpple Beyond. The tender sirloin is cooked to a perfect medium rare, sliced and slathered in an incredibly rich and buttery gravy. It is also interestingly served in two parts — a second portion is brought to you halfway through the meal, so pace yourself! If that doesn’t do it for you, the refillable golden fries on the side will. Dip these into that legendary steak gravy for an instant flavour boost.

Patty Melt ($17)

Order this at:  Park Bench Deli
If you’ve ever had one of Park Bench Deli’s uh-mayzing sandwiches, you won’t need much convincing for this one. The cheeseburger-inspired Patty Melt is in a league of its own — think juicy beef patty, sweet caramelised onions, tangy pickles and oozy cheddar, sandwiched between warm, fluffy rye bread. The dish is so sinfully delicious, Burppler Nobelle Liew calls it her favourite burger — oh yes, it’s as good as one.

Kaki Ponzu ($17.70)

Order this at: The Sushi Bar
Apart from their value-for-money chirashi dons, Far East Plaza’s The Sushi Bar also doles out stellar sides for sharing. The thick yet delicate cuts of fatty Salmon Sashimi ($4.90) certainly belong in that list, but we’re singling out the Kaki Ponzu as our top pick! Enlivened with light and tart ponzu sauce, the fresh, plump oysters make for a delightful slurp of balanced flavours. Each order of the Kaki Ponzu comes with three shucked, ponzu-seasoned oysters.

Chul Pan - Beef ($18)

Order this at: 8 Korean BBQ (Shaw Centre)
Lunchtime Chul Pan (hot plate stir-fry) is done exceedingly well at 8 Korean BBQ, in a rendition that sees beautifully marbled sliced beef stacked on kimchi beansprouts, cabbage, chives and housemade gochujang sauce. The deliciously sweet and spicy dish is grilled tableside, so you get to watch the sizzle happen and dig in while it’s still piping hot. Heed Burppler Veronica Phua’s recommendation to have the side of steamed rice thrown in to be fried together — it yields a pleasant, wok hei-like smokiness!

Scottish Blue Mussels ($30)

Order this at: Firebake - Woodfired Bakehouse & Restaurant
The next time you’re slinging over to this East Coast Road bakehouse for their mindblowingly good breads, order the good-for-sharing Scottish Blue Mussels too! Served in a cast-iron pot, the dish features mussels cooked with either white wine, onion and dill, or craft beer and chorizo sausages. The former suits lighter palates, but we love the latter for its punchy flavours!

Roasted Whole Pork Knuckle ($31.90)

Order this at: Paulaner Brahaus Singapore
You haven’t really been to Paulaner Brahaus if you haven’t had a Roasted Whole Pork Knuckle washed down with many mugs of lager. Redolent of a classic Bavarian marinade (sage and mustard), the gargantuan bone-in pork knuckle is brushed with Paulaner beer and oven-roasted to yield crisp, crackling skin and tender flesh. It also comes with quintessential sides: zesty sauerkraut and a traditional bread dumpling complete the German bar experience.

Waffle with Soft Serve ($10.70)

Order this at: Sunday Folks
Sweet-toothed Burpplers, here’s what to go Beyond for. Sunday Folks’ soft serve is yummy on its own, but especially good when paired with their warm Belgian waffle that’s crisp on the outside and fluffy on the inside. With your 1-for-1 Waffle with Soft Serve deal, you get to choose two flavours — make it the dreamy, sweet-savoury Sea Salt Caramel and the roasty Pistachio!

Roasted Black Grouper ($28)

Order this at: Scaled by Ah Hua Kelong
Run by the young team behind fish farm Ah Hua Kelong, Scaled meets stellar standards when it comes to sourcing fresh catch. The piece de resistance on their seafood-centric menu is the Roasted Black Grouper ($28), which features a hearty, beautifully roasted grouper fillet on mussel vichyssoise with a touch of dill oil, masala and shimeji mushrooms. While aromatic, the seasoning is kept subtle to allow the fish’s own sweetness to be the star. You cannot go wrong with this order, but the rich, fragrant Curry Mussels ($16) served with deep-fried mantou deserve an honourable mention too.

Sausage & Potatoes Pizza ($34)

Order this at: Atmastel
Casual Italian restaurant Atmastel along South Beach Avenue serves up the classics: pizza, pasta and tiramisu. What sets them apart, however, is the impactful, spot-on flavours they put together in a dish — the Sausage & Potatoes Pizza makes a perfect example! The tender, crusty dough is topped with juicy, savoury sausages, blue cheese and crunchy, bitter arugula leaves, resulting in a party of scrumptious flavours.

Beef Hor Fun ($12)

Order this at: Char
This cosy Jalan Besar joint does roast meats justice, but make sure to don your loose pants for this — they also turn out delicious noodle and rice dishes! Try their riff on popular hawker dish Beef Hor Fun, which relies on its surefire wok hei to satisfy. The beef slices are fork-tender, while the smooth flat noodles are slicked in just the right amount of dark sauce for a deeply flavoured, must-order main.
