Set along Jalan Setiakasih 5, this bustling bakery rakes in the crowds all day for their pastries and sandwiches. Begin your morning with the Croissant with Scrambled Eggs (RM8.80) that’s a guaranteed tummy filler. For something sweet, try the Salted Caramel Cruffin (RM7.80) for its flaky pastry and sweet-smoky caramel glaze. Don't forget your morning cuppa — the dark and strong Brewed Coffee (RM8.80) will keep you bright-eyed throughout the morning.

Your lunch spot requires a short drive, but it’s worth it. The corner-lot hawker shop nestled within Plaza Batai is well-loved for its stellar grub, including the incredibly crispy roast meats. But don’t get sidetracked too soon — after all, you’re here for noodles. The Char Kuey Teow (from RM8) comes incredibly close to Penang’s wok hei-laden standards, while Mui Chea’s Pork Noodles (from RM8) will have you thanking the copious amounts of lard. P.s. The joint turns into a bak kut teh spot at dinnertime.

You shouldn’t have to give up desserts, even after that carb-tastic lunch. Cue healthy ice cream at this vegan parlour. Take a slow drive to the busier Jalan Medan Setia block for ice cream at Kind Kones. Must-haves include the sweet Charcoal Vanilla (RM11.80) and the rich, decadent Salted Chocolate Chip (RM11.80) on a Flourless Gluten-Free Waffle Kone (RM3.90). Soak up the bright and minimalistic vibes as you savour your scoops – there’s plenty of time to rest your tummies before the next meal.

You’re in for a feast at this hour, and you’re going to want a dinner party to join in on the fun. On the menu: Sri Lankan delicacies such as crispy appams, string hoppers and aromatic curries. Expect flavours similar to Indian fare, with unique nuances. Fill the table with the Egg Appam (RM7), the signature String Hopper Kothu with Chicken (RM31) and the Mutton Curry (RM42) that’s spicy and very addictive.
