Neo-Nordic Dinners at Sear

Swedish chef Eric Gustafsson (formerly of The Dempsey Cookhouse & Bar) has joined Sear, and the steakhouse’s new Nordic Kitchen menu pays homage to his Scandinavian roots. Consider this the next time you're celebrating a special occasion! The Swedish Vendace Roe, what they call Swedish gold, makes an inviting starter. Served with lemon creme fraiche, pickled red onions, thyme, and toasted brioche, the combination surprises with a splash of freshness, tang and umami all at the same time. For mains, expect a meltingly tender Atlantic Cod, which comes with a seared scallop and perfectly executed vegetables — think charred cabbage and juicy white asparagus. We love that there is pre-dessert (a zesty Rhubarb Compote), followed by delicate Swedish Cloudberries with sorbet to sum up the Nordic experience. This four-course dinner menu is available every Saturday for dinner at $88, with a wine pairing option for an additional $58.


Late Night Grub at The Salted Plum

Our community’s go-to for affordable Taiwanese-inspired cuisine, The Salted Plum has spruced up their offerings with new dishes and a supper menu (only available on Friday and Saturday from 11pm - 2.30am)! Don’t be quick to strike off dishes like Chicken Hearts ($5), for Burpplers Zhihui Lim and Wei Zhi Chiang both had an eye-opening first-time experience with the tender and well-seasoned innards. Another crowd favourite is the Oyster Omelette ($10) — a less starchy adaptation of our local orh lua with added richness from the use of lard. To balance off all the oily goodness, top up $3 for a serving of Sweet Potato Congee cooked in dashi stock. It’s so comforting and flavourful that it can be eaten on its own!  


Tori Paitan Ramen at Tsuta

Michelin-starred ramen restaurant Tsuta has launched two new Tori Paitan Ramen dishes in Singapore! With the soup brewed using chicken bones and feet, this nourishing concoction for the Tori Paitan ($12) coddles the silky ramen noodles and tender chicken thighs. A spicy variation — Spicy Tori Paitan ($13) — is also available, where the broth is spiked with fragrant chilli oil and served with a side of tomato paste for an added depth of flavour. Thanks to the affordable pricing, you’ll love to complement your chicken ramen with the light and savoury Yaki Gyoza or Sui Gyoza ($6.80 each), or the pudding-like Matcha Bavaro ($2.80) for a bittersweet finish.


Jam-Packed Burgers at Seven & Ate

Seven & Ate returns with a revised menu to fit their new kitchen+bar concept and late opening hours. In addition to sharing platters and bar grub, customers can now expect burgers ranging from the simple and hearty to the complex and indulgent. On one end, there’s Jam & Eggs ($15) — a sweet yet savoury burger consisting of double pork patties, egg white fritters, a sunny side-up and bacon jam; on the other, there’s 3 Little Pigs ($18) specially crafted for big and bold eaters. The meaty burger comes with double pork patties, bacon-wrapped sausages, slow-cooked pork belly AND grilled spam. Burp.
