The new Coley Cocktail Bar is a complete contrast to its former spot. From their days of occupying a corner at the back of a cafe, the cocktail bar finally gets an upgrade to a space of their own just a few doors down the same street. The new spot feels sexier, thanks to the warm lights, potted plants and purple walls — or as owner CK describes it, “the colour of the foam in our Angostura bitters shots.” It’s also cosier, perfect for dates and smaller groups, while there are also bigger tables located towards the back of the bar to host larger parties. The seats are set up for a communal feel, so when it gets crowded, be prepared to share your table.
One thing that hasn’t changed about Coley is the team’s amazing hospitality. Take a seat at the bar — hands down the highlight of this space — to watch and learn as the bartenders mix, concoct and pour your drinks. The cocktail menu remains (almost) the same. You’ll find house favourites such as the Gin & Coconut Koktel (RM25) and the classic Hanky Panky (RM46), with new additions to look forward to now that they have a home ground to experiment at. Maybe it’s the refreshed look, but we could swear the drinks we had on opening night tasted even better than when we last had them...
