Satisfy Your Korean Food Cravings At These Restaurants

The 'Korean Wave' may have washed up onto our shores about two decades ago but it is still prevalent today—some of us consume Korean entertainment on a daily, while others simply can't live without Korean food.

If you’re part of the latter, and you constantly crave this delicious cuisine, then you’re in for a treat because we’ve compiled some of the best Korean food joints and restaurants in Singapore!

Oven & Fried Chicken

For Oven-baked Korean Fried Chicken
Since its inception in 2014, Oven & Fried Chicken has won the hearts of many, including the Koreans residing in Singapore! They specialise in making Korean-style chicken (specifically oven-baked) using a patented recipe that gives it an extra delectable taste. Each piece of chicken is evenly coated in rice flour before being baked in the oven so you're guaranteed a nice crispy batter.

We recommend the YangNyeom Chicken ($23 to $51) which comes with a sweet and spicy seasoning made with the primary ingredients of Gochujang (Korean chilli paste), soy sauce, sugar, and garlic. OFC also serves other Korean dishes such as Army Stew ($40) and Assorted Fish Cake Soup ($20 to $35), both great for those who want to cleanse their palate with something soupy along the way.

Itaewon Jjajang

For Delicious Korean-Chinese Dishes
Located at Tanjong Pagar, Itaewon Jjajang is a new restaurant that serves Korean-Chinese classics like Jjajangmyeon, Jjamppong, and Tangsuyuk. Aside from these popular dishes, they also offer a wide variety of lesser-known menu items such as Yangjangpi ($38), an assorted seafood and vegetable dish topped with mushroom and mustard sauce, and Yuringi ($40), a stir-fried shredded seafood and mushroom dish with oyster sauce.

Korean dishes such as the rich and hearty SamGaeTang ($18), also known as Ginseng Chicken Soup, is another one of their highlights as this comes with fall-off-the-bone tender chicken. And, let's not forget the ever-popular HaeMulPaJeon ($25), a crispy pancake topped with seafood and spring onion.

For Affordable Sweet & Sour Pork Sets
MukJja is another Korean-Chinese restaurant that has gone viral online, and for good reason. Their generously portioned dishes which are all going at reasonable prices will most definitely satisfy your hunger pangs! Go for one of their five different Sweet & Sour Pork Sets (from $40 to $49); these include a variety of dishes such as the Noodle with Black Bean Sauce (Jjajangmyeon), the Spicy Seafood Noodle Soup (Jjamppong), and the Stir-fried Seafood Black Bean Sauce Noodle (seafood Jjajangmyeon), just to name a few.

SBCD Korean Tofu House

For A Rich and Savoury Korean Tofu Stew
SBCD Korean Tofu House has multiple locations islandwide so you might’ve already chanced upon this eatery! They’ve certainly become recognised for their Korean soft tofu stews as well as their grilled or barbecued seafood and meats. If the soft tofu stew alone isn't enough to satiate you, try one of their Combo meals which includes a meat or rice dish on top of a bowl of stew. The Cockles Bibimbap Combo ($29.90), Grilled Chicken Combo ($29.90), or LA Galbi Combo ($42.90) are your best bet if you’re looking for a hearty meal.

For Contemporary Fusion Korean Dishes
Serving contemporary Seoul cuisine, NAE:UM’s innovative dishes are essentially a matrimony of Western cooking techniques and Korean heritage flavours. The menu offerings change regularly depending on the chef, and are dubbed 'episodes,' each following a theme. For instance, the current “mountain lodge” menu utilises ingredients commonly found in mountainous regions. New 'episodes' launch every few months so be sure to look out for updates on their official website!

Jade’s Chicken

For Wallet-Friendly Korean Fried Chicken
Situated at Johnson Eatery in Toa Payoh, Jade's Chicken (previously known as Waker Chicken) is a popular Korean fried chicken restaurant that serves not just individual pieces but whole chickens ($29 each) as well. Get these in your preferred flavour, either original crispy, sweet spicy, soy sauce, or honey butter, and pair them with rice sets ($6.50) if you so choose! Other popular dishes available at Jade's Chicken include the Sun Toufu Soup ($7.50) and Toppoki ($16).
