These are the best mooncakes I've had in a few years, and you know I eat a lot of mooncakes every season. My favourite baked mooncake each year always came from Feng Shui Inn at Resort World Sentosa, with their fragrant and delicate fillings, in fine crust that's every bit premium and meticulously crafted.

This year, Feng Shui Inn outdid themselves. They are now serving it in crisp buttery flaky pastry, sprinkled with white sesame seeds. They're filled with molten salted egg lava, smoothened by a multi-textured base of custard, diary milk, coconut milk and salted butter. It's a perfect balance of sweet and savoury, and threading on the fine line between salted egg and custard. When you thought a particular custard mooncakes from a Hong Kong is the best, wait till you try this.

One of my favorite food would be braised pork and this place does it quite ok.

Meat wasn’t especially tender but the layer of fats was quite soft.

Just received this cute fish nian gao from Fengshui Inn, made from coconut milk.

Fine execution by Executive Chef Li of Fengshui Inn. These seemingly simple mooncakes had custard and white lotus paste that were blended with American ginseng. With just that right amount of ginseng, it lifted the lotus paste with delicate fragrance, akin to how orange peel was used in some food. For some textural contrast, chocolate pearls were added as well.

And I got to know how Chef Li does it: he uses more than five grams of premium quality American ginseng in each mooncake. It was then steamed, sliced and ground into a fine powder before mixing into the white lotus paste and custard.

That crust too, it was more crisp than other baked mooncakes I've tried, as that buttery crust was made of premium Australian butter with custard and milk powder and fresh eggs.

It's a traditional baked mooncake without frills, but some tweak in ingredients and fine execution made this one of the best baked mooncakes I've had in a while.

传统新界乡村粽. Out of the 5 dumplings in RWS Gourmet Dumpling Set ($98++), this is my favourite.

Created by Fengshui Inn, this dumpling combined the goodness of five grains - soybeans, wheat, broomcorn, foxtail millet and rice, with a tender 10-head whole Australian wild abalone.

I love the abalone, but that's not the reason why this is my favourite. I like that it's rich and perfectly moist due to the chef’s homemade recipe of superior soy sauce, and it has a yummy mixture of ingredients - plump pork belly, fermented red bean paste, roast pork and salted egg. It has that familiar taste of dumplings we are accustomed to, but the use of premium ingredients had elevated it to another level.
