An unforeseen show stopper arrived in the form of unassuming pakoras. Festooned with flavour, the deep-fried sweet potato and kale pakoras were shatteringly crunchy on the outside and spiced to mouthwatering perfection. I thought molecular gastronomy was well and truly dead, but the duo of spherified mint raita balls were an impressive sight to behold, exploding and unleasing a refreshing gush of herbaceous sauce at the poke of your knife. A successful showcase of familiar ingredients presented in unexpected ways.

An obvious ode to hit Star Wars tv show Mandalorian (and probably a pun on Mangalorean), the Grogu Roast sees 4 precious (and slightly miniscule) pieces of admittedly flawlessly executed Iberico pork. Fatty and slightly charred, each slice was perfectly pink in the middle. The Mangalorean spice mix however, felt overly mild and weak to me. At close to $90, you'd be hard-pressed to justify the price for what you get.

My takeaway for this starter is that it's on the wrong side of overpriced. Whilst the grilled octopus was well-cooked, texturally it was more akin to fishcake than what I am used to. The schmear of tandoori-lime aioli was well-seasoned and I appreciated the charred bits of onion as well, but the naan crumbs weren't really essential.

Nouveau Indian restaurant @superfirangi is a stylish affair sure to impress your dinner date, not just with its eclectic and atmospheric interior, but also with its price tag.

Expect modern takes and twists on the cuisine, such as this riff on mattar paneer which sees creamy burrata in lieu of the Indian cottage cheese, dressed with sweet green pea puree, edamame, a well-balanced paneer masala foam and lashings of chilli oil. The dish is tasty enough, but not particularly outstanding. The... I want to say cheese crisps... though, are an absolute standout.

Nice surprise. The tart shell was thin and holds its shape well, the chocolate was pleasant and the mild chai cream worked well. We enjoyed this more than anything else today apart from the pork

Overall it's v hyped, very very expensive, not worth visiting at this price
