A mash up between Kaya toast and a panini bread birthed the Kanini. Sounds somewhat crude, but is perfection taste-wise.

All these Western spins on our local Singaporean favourites could turn out horribly wrong, but Firebake uses their very own milk bun, with Katong Kaya (not made in house but sourced from somewhere in katong), and French butter, and toasts this in a panini press to give this beautiful rendition of kaya toast. I love the crust on this, and I really loved that the Kaya and butter were evenly spread and melted on the panini rather than clumped.

So so so good!

If you’d like to try their breakfasts, make sure to head down on Fridays, Saturdays or Sundays which is when they open earlier at 9am for the breakfast/brunch crowd :)

This photo was actually from long ago (hence the low quality and bad photography) but its taste still lingers in my memory, and I crave it so badly.
It was a treasure trove, full of fresh juicy mussles which were coloured by the slight tartness of the wine, whilst carrying a gentle acidic sting. It was so addictive I don't think my hands ever stopped. The broth pairs immaculately with their amazing sourdough as well — must-order dish.

A terrible oily mess. Medium done beef patty was juicy but lacks flavour. The meat stew sauce was too oily and the butter just made it so jelak. Got to say the additional $2 for the generous portion of bacon was pretty worth it.

Very impressed with the size of the grilled tiger prawns and the succulent juicy meat within. Simple but very satisfying dish.

🥣 Ingredients: Wagyu, sourdough buns, Swiss raclette cheese
💬 Wagyu beef patty was medium-done, hence still juicy, and sandwiched between smoky house-baked wood-fired sourdough potato buns.
💬 Sauce was unique - it came in a form of traditional pastitsada stew (a Greek meat sauce).

Love the food quality here, it’s decent with their freshly baked bread, spring water & special oven. You can see the Chef / owner pottering around - total dedication. I had the striploin medium rare that came beautifully done, with a generous heap of salsa verde. Not my first time here and the food has always been great!
