I ordered the Batang soup and tabao the seafood soup.
The slices fish was fresh,debones, the soup was light, tasty with a hint of gingers.
Its very comforting for current weather

Ps : I came off-peak timing to avoid the queue, around 3.30pm, the queue only like 5 people.

The soup was tasty and relatively light, but got a little more salty at the bottom due to the bits of the shallots and whatnot. The batang fish slices were fresh, succulent and had a good bite! However, the pomfret was slightly fishy, with many small bones present - I’ll say go for the batang. We added minced pork (+$0.50) for one of the bowls and it is a good addition, as it was well seasoned and tender, bringing extra flavour to the soup. P.s. the rice is very dry, so be sure to drench your rice in soup!

We queued ~1 hour for this for a weekend lunch. It’s a good place for fish soup, and I would probably revisit if I was in the area / the queues are shorter, but Han Kee at Amoy still takes the spot as #1 :)

Not only is Upper Serangoon Road a hub for late-night🌃 supper spots, but it’s also where First Street Teochew Fish Soup is operating to serve only the breakfast and lunch crowds. Be prepared to witness a snaking long queue around the coffee shop and expect to wait for up to 30-45 minutes! For those that are bored of the usual Batang fish, you can also go for their Red Garoupa or Pomfret which comes with a higher price-tag.

What stood out most to me was their fresh and succulent slices of Batang fish that devoid of any fishy aftertaste. Perfectly sliced to the right thickness, the generous amount of fish slices will surely give you the best bang for your buck💸. As for the broth, it was great but not mind-blowing🤯.

P.S. Will definitely opt to add minced pork ($0.50) next time! And maybe fish roe ($1.50) too😋

Fresh, thick and succulent slices of mackerel, tang o, thin slices of ginger and garnished with fried shallots in a soup full of sweetness and goodness. One of the few places I would think of should I crave for a bowl of sliced fish soup. There's always a queue so be prepared to brave the heat for this worthwhile bowl of fish soup. We added minced pork and we definitely made the right choice. Another thing I liked was their salted fermented soy bean (tau cheo) chili dip 》$10/large + $0.50 Minced Pork + $0.50 Rice

Come as early as you can (before 11am) to avoid the queue at this Upper Serangoon Road stall. Everyone's here for a premium version of fish soup — they use Red Garoupa or Pomfret. The Red Garoupa Fish Soup (from $9) features more than 10 slices of fish and tang oh in a beautifully sweet broth. Comparatively, the Pomfret Fish Soup (from $11) is pricier but will suit pomfret-lovers well. Add bak chor for $0.50 for a substantial boost to your meal! P.s. Also try the Mixed Soup (from $5) with prawns, fishcakes, fish maw and mackerel.

We have tried various combo but our favourite is still the batang with minced pork ($6/$8/$10) with additional $0.50 for the bak chor. This $8 bowl comes with lots of thickly sliced fish and vegetables. The higher price tag is justified by the sheer quality and quantity. Do come before 11am or else be prepared to wait an hour.
