2nd attempt at visiting this place (1st was on a weekend and the waiting time was an hour!) - got an indoor seat after 15 minutes. The place was bright and airy, seats were well spaced. Food came promptly and was good. Enjoyed the salted caramel banana waffles. Overall an enjoyable experience!

Amazing Mac & cheese - great cheese filling and generous prawns giving it a real kick in terms of Unami taste!!! Only con is that this was really small

Summer fruits waffles - looked pretty but it tasted pretty mediocre for the $18 paid!

We were surprised by the thickness of the bacon; guess the cafe was pretty serious when their menu said the dish came with thick-cut bacon. However, the bacon was pretty tough so we were not a big fan of it. It was also a little way too heavy for breakfast, so the usual bacon might have worked out better if you are having your meal in the morning!

The rosti was pretty crispy on the outside although we thought the insides could have been more flavourful. The rosti by itself was pretty plain, so do be sure to pair it with the mushroom cream sauce provided at one side! The poached eggs were done pretty well and went well with the hollandaise sauce! :)

Five Oars was really crowded, which was to be expected for a Sunday morning. Be prepared to queue at least an hour to get a table. You may also wish to note that there is a 90 minute dining limit, which the restaurant adheres to very strictly.

first bite is really good but can get gelat, best to share

Pictured is the Five Oars Waffles ($18) which comes with a tower of sourdough waffles, topped with strawberries, pecan and vanilla ice cream, surrounded with oats, coffee powder, ground almond and mascarpone. A side of espresso sauce is given to enhance the flavour and experience. My only feedback would be to replace the artificial vanilla ice cream with actual ice cream made with vanilla beans and give us more of that nice sweet-caramel espresso sauce.
