Corn fritters, poached egg, haloumi, bacon. All my favourite brunch items in one plate.

I’m absolutely in love with this dish. Creme brûlée French toast served with matcha ice cream, summer berries, popcorn and edible flowers. Absolutely a photogenic sight.

A clean salad for the weekend. For sure spent my moneys worth for a generous sprinkle of crab meat and fish roe. The egg was slightly over poached (if that is even a term), and didn’t have the egg porn ooze effect I desired. However this cute cafe had great vibes and it was perfect for a catchup with friends.

I might not be a huge fan of mac and cheese in general, but Five Oars Coffee Roasters’ Mentaiko Mac and Cheese ($21.50) had me with the sweet chunks of prawn and crab meat. Seafoody, creamy yet not too cheesy, the blend of flavours from the use of mentaiko, cheddar and parmesan cheese was delightfully decadent. Good for sharing, the bowl also had vibrant ebiko strewn over the lightly charred macaroni, providing an extra omph to the often one-dimensional staple.

Loved the location, the ambience the coffee, cakes and mains

Had 2 drinks, 2 cakes, 1 main ( Crab eggs benedict) and paid a total of $49

The cakes were banana crumble tart and sea salt caramel.

Must try the tarts if u vist!

Thanks to the staff who accommodated my request for have my eggs scrambled instead of the default option (poached) because poached eggs has never been my thing. However that request might have not been the wisest decision.
The scrambled eggs were done @mcdsg style (hard and lifeless). The broccolini was bland and could definitely use some char and seasoning. The portion of thick cut bacon seemed underwhelming (second picture shows half the piece of bacon). The dish was also devoid of any taste of truffle (despite its name) save for the 2 pieces of shaved truffle atop the broccolini.
Now that I’ve put the description of the dish above, and took a second look at the second picture, I realized that the truffle hollandaise might have been accidentally left out of the dish, explaining the lack of ‘truffleness’ and the bland dish. We managed to still finish the dish with the help of some salt, and the excellent ham and brioche on the plate.
Go there for the coffee, but I might fill my stomach elsewhere for now. #burpple #fiveoarscoffeeroasters
