Chanced upon this cafe in orchard & tried their lava cake + pecan pie! Pecan pie was not bad but the lava cake was too sweet for my liking. Quite a few interesting tea selections there too. Overall the desserts are average but pretty cafe!

Check out Fleurato located at Orchard, definitely an instagrammable botanical cafe to satisfy your dessert cravings! Have peace of mind while tasting their range of aromatic teas infused with tea leaves and exotic fruits (each at $8.90), such as Rosy Earl Grey, Singapore Dream, Melon Oolong, and Secrets of Singapore. Scoop up some of Fleurato’s gelato flavours like Honey Lavender, Lychee Rose, Osmanthus Long Jing, Mango Raspberry, Pomegranate, Dark Chocolate Sorbet and more! Prices come at a single scoop: $5.90 or$6.90 depending on the flavour, and double scoops at $10.90 or $12.90.

Heard all about the new Fleurato which had recently opened its doors at Orchard Rendezvous Hotel; the establishment being a florist-cum-cafe concept which seems to be one that is getting increasingly common of the late (another florist-cum-cafe which we have visited recently would be The Fed Giraffe at Hougang Rivercourt). Situated within the shopping arcade of the hotel’s premises, the interior of Fleurato can be said to look pretty upscale — the prevalent use of wooden elements and cushioned seats does provide for a elegant set-up alongside the floral-themed environment. Being primarily a dessert cafe, the menu at Fleurato features a decent variety of gelatos — the “Orchid” category being the standard selection of flavours, while the “ROYAL Orchid” selection of flavours are what some other establishments would call the “premium” flavours which are priced at a slightly higher markup. Apart from gelato, Fleurato also serves up a few different plated cakes and bakes within the “Artisan Loves” section of the menu, while the “3 by 3 Sweet Tooth” selection features smaller items that are typically served as a Petit Four in fine dining restaurants. Beverages available at Fleurato includes a range of different floral-inspired teas, as well as a range of tea mocktails for those who are looking for something more fancy.

Being an item listed on the “3 by 3 Sweet Tooth” section of the menu here, the M.P.C. is an abbreviation that refers to the Macaron, Praline and Canele that are all listed on the same section of the menu. Being the platter that features all three items altogether, we felt that the M.P.C. was more of a fancy plating of a few items that seemed to be sourced elsewhere. All three items didn’t really seem too particularly impressive — the item that was pretty decent here being the Praline that was nothing too much out of the ordinary; though a pretty one no doubt. The Macaron that came with our platter was a blueberry flavoured one; does seem a little on the sweet side and the textures did feel a little less intricate as compared to other Macarons that other establishments have to offer. The Canele was also a little far from expectations — we are guessing that the Canele is likely to be a Pandan-infused one with its green interior, though this one was very much lacking again when the texture is involved; just soft, sticky and tired overall.

Not sure if we ordered the wrong sort of items during our visit here, but Fleurato does seem like they are missing the mark especially with the M.P.C. — perhaps the items that may have fared a little better might be from the “Artisan Loves” section that we have missed. The Osthmanthus Long Jing gelato that we have tried does seem to taste almost the same as a Osthmanthus Oolong ice-cream that we have tried from another establishment which we visited few days before making the visit to Fleurato, while the Daffodil Fresca tea mocktail did seem a little heavy on the sweetness from the cucumber syrup. Perhaps there is also a slight mismatch in terms of expectations given its pretty environment; the set-up does feel rather promising, though in hindsight, seemed more for the ‘gram. Still, we reckon Fleurato would probably be a decent spot to hit for those looking for a pretty environment to dine at, or perhaps with Tai-Tai’s looking for a dainty spot to rest their legs after their shopping routine — a convenient and conducive spot considering how it is located at the other side of Orchard Road …
