Fluffy roll cake layered in with sweet cream and a hint of coffee. Best paired with a cup of americano!

Here are 8 NEW cafes which specialise in cakes and desserts, that opened in Singapore from the last year.

They offer Watermelon Rose, Orh Nee, Gula Melaka Brown Sugar Cakes and more.

I thought this Paris Vert ($7.50) would be really sweet, what with the meringue, matcha and azuki creams; but it turned out way way better than expected, and I wiped the plate clean all on my own 🤤 I’m usually not a huge fan of meringue, but this was really more like a cake with just a thiiiin layer of crispy meringue on top: so not overwhelmingly sweet, great textural contrast as well. The matcha and azuki cream were wonderfully ethereal and light, boasting an amazing nuttiness that comes through in every bite. Absolutely delicious.

Thought this would make a good light afternoon snack but that wasn’t the case. A tad dry with slightly hard Azuki bean, think I will stick to their Paris Vert next time.

Red, Green or Chocolate?

Needless to say, I went for the Green Cup- a base of matcha milk pudding with layers of super soft jelly with fresh fruits within, finished off with some almond granola and fresh chantilly. Loved the milky, silky smooth milk pudding with hints of matcha. Albeit a tad sweet on its own, the layer of jelly above as well as fresh fruits served to cut through the sweetness.

While this was a refreshing sweet treat that i enjoyed and was definitely pretty to look at, the price is definitely a deterrence to repeated consumption, with a hefty $12 price tag which came to about $14+ after taxes.. .
