From the Burpple community

Came on Friday evening and not too crowded. They upgraded the 1-1 of the popularity founder bakkut teh ($9.80) as the normal one ($7 plus) sold out.
Worth for the value of money.

expected the meat to be slightly tough (esp for the prosperity bkt) after reading the reviews, and yes the meat was tough even for someone like me who don't like the fatty kind of ribs. eat the short ribs were not tender :( slightly disappointed. their youtiao is more dense and flour-y as compared to the youtiaos i normally have as well. not really a fan so won't rec

My fav BKT place!!! Their soups are v flavourful and comes with free refills! Their veg and youtiao are also not oily, very healthy😆

Expected more since this was raved but it was pretty normal. The broth is nice, but just as others had reviewed, the soup turns cold very quickly because the aircon in the restaurant is too strong. Fortunately for me, the meat isn’t as dry or tough as what others said, which is pretty good.

However, the service can be improved. We ordered the youtiao and it took forever to come. It only came when I was almost done with the meal, and had to remind the staff around 4 times for my youtiao, because I saw her serving others. She even accidentally poured hot soup on my mum, which really made the dining experience rather unpleasant.

My date and I got their Founder BKT ($9.80) alongside the free Popularity BKT by using Burpple Beyond. The difference is in the meat - Founder BKT came with a rib and Popularity came with unknown parts. Meat was dry and slightly tough, but it was quickly fixed when I doused it in chili and dark sauce. You can also request for chopped garlic to add into your condiments!

Soup was less peppery than most named stores. If you prefer lighter broth, you’d enjoy this. Unfortunately I was seated under the ceiling fan, and the food cooled really quickly.

We ordered charcoal youtiao ($2), which was a win cause the fried fritter was crispy and hot! It was also really oily with grease all over the plate, but that was expected. Taste of charcoal was unnoticeable.

Braised peanuts ($3.50, small) was a great treat, perfect for 2-3 people.

Service was attentive and I appreciated the quick soup refills.

Trying out the BKT from @founderbkt at Bugis with #burpplebeyond! Glad to say that the quality of the food turned out to be better than expected, as I tried it previously at the other outlet and felt it was only average at most then. The pork tasted fresh with no weird porky aftertaste. The soup was also peppery enough and not overly salty. The lettuce was really crisp too. The only 2 letdowns were the braised tau kee and the rice, as both were too tough IMO. I also felt the braised sauce to be too sweet. Otherwise, the BKT here is pretty worth a try! 🐷
