Nestled in 100AM Mall, this concept created by First Gourmet (the people behind Zaffron Kitchen & Prata Wala 😎) serve both peppery & herbal bak kut teh at one stop! 👏🏻
.
Made with a combination of 12 different herbs 😍 including angelica root (dang gui), wolfberry & premium codonopsis root (dang shen) 💪🏻,  the soup is slow-brewed with pork bones, rendering a robust-tasting broth! ✔
.
Here's what we tried:
🔹️Prime Rib Bak Kut Teh ($13)
🔹️Teochew Bak Kut Teh ($7)
🔹️Lamb-Kut-Teh ($16)
.
I am a fan of the herbal rendition 💗, but if you are a fan of super peppery BKT, you will be pleased with the Teochew version! 😉 Go for their Prime Rib for a hearty chunky meal or go for their short ribs for the tender mouthfeel! 🌟 Their lamb wasn't too gamey so you can give it a try too! 👌🏻

Whichever bak kut teh you prefer, you can get both the Teochew (peppery) and Klang (herbal) versions at Friends Bak Kut Teh, a new concept of the FG Culinary Group. The pepper broth has the addition of toasted white pepper and simmered for two hours with whole garlic bulbs while the herbal one contains a combination of 12 different herbs such as angelica root, wolfberry and dang seng, and is slow-brewed with pork bones till it achieves a rich flavour. Both broths are available with premium bone-in pork ribs or short ribs, priced at $13 and $7 respectively. If you prefer a unique option with a stronger flavour, Friends Bak Kut Teh has the Lamb-Kut Teh ($16) in the menu which comes with a bone-in leg of lamb in a peppery herbal broth.

In addition to the bak kut teh, the restaurant also has a lineup of fresh seafood and zichar dishes such as the Thai-style Steamed Sea Bass ($15) with the recognizable bird’s eye chillies and chopped garlic, Salted Egg Prawn ($18) and Prawn Paste Chicken ($7.50).

From now to 26 April, diners can enjoy the Thai-styled Steamed Seabass at $8 with purchase of two bowls of bak kut teh and an all-day set for 1 pax at $12.90 which includes a bowl of bak kut teh, braised peanut, youtiao, braised salted vegetables, braised tau pok and rice.

Finally, a decent spot for bak kut teh in Tanjong Pagar! They serve up both the peppery and herbal broths so you can take your pick. In fact, they have a Lamb-Kut Teh ($16) that combines both versions, for a different take on bak kut teh. Love how the meat isn't gamey but instead elevates the taste of the soup. They also have zi char classics here, really like the Thai-style Steamed Sea Bass ($15).
