The grilled pork chops (for once) were not paired with Apple sauce. The slightly spicy rustic sweet potato mash made for a great complement to the perfectly grilled pork chops (tender despite being cooked through and infused with a subtle grill flavour imparted during the grilling process).

This huge banana pancake ($16) was baked fresh and served in a hot pan, topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and garnished with walnuts, pistachio crumble and strawberry pieces.

The pancake was still so hot the ice cream melted and started running down the sides of the hotcake, becoming a sort of sweet vanilla flavored sauce of sorts. The pancake itself had a more dense, cakey texture and had sweet chunks of banana in it. It definitely resembled a banana cake more than a classic pancake. But I really liked the medley of flavors; sweetness of the banana, tanginess of the strawberry, earthiness of the nuts tied together with rich creamy ice cream. The warm cake (it steamed when I cut into it) also tasted really good paired with the cool ice cream.

Still a few bits to tweak like a stronger banana flavor and the overall texture of the hotcake. But it put both me and my dining partner into that sugar-induced post-dessert high which is a sign we enjoyed our dinner very much. :)

This was a huge six ounce slab of salmon on top of roasted mixed veggies (zucchini, carrot, mushroom and baby potato). The salmon was well cooked, moist and tender although the skin wasn't really crispy. I was more impressed with the veggies, which were roasted to bring out their natural sweetness and flavors. The poached egg and hollandaise on top added richness to the meal with the flowy yolk acting as a sauce that bound everything together and the soft whites providing a variation of textures to the dish. Altogether a well-balanced dish with simple flavors that paired well together.

The ambience of the cafe had an industrial appearance with its whitewashed tiles. But the lights dangling from the ceiling, cushions on the seats and soft music made for a cosy ambience, along with the friendly and efficient wait staff.

This dish cost $18 which is average for cafe food. But I enjoyed it very much, it was the perfect portion size for me. Plus it was made much more with it with the Burpple Beyond deal.
