Furano-shi, Hokkaido, Japan

Furano is well-known for their omu curry rice, their speciality dish. At Masaya, they serve it with fluffy omelette and plump moist Japanese rice. But to me the best component in their rendition is the teppanyaki pork collar meat served on the side, crunchy and meaty with smoky scent.

The downside to this restaurant is that it's popular among tourists, so expect to see fewer locals here. But it's a safe choice, as all the food I've tried here were quite good.

There's another better Omu-Curry place that I tried during my last visit to Hokkaido. It's housed in a little hut called Yuigadoxon.

So simple yet so delicious. Many of you would know of this place, and would have came when you visited Furano. They're famous for their omu curry rice and theatrical teppanyaki. I was here for a stopover, to rest from the 5 hour drive from Lake Akan to Mount Daisetsuzan. Firm texture, slightly burnt, and tasty.
