Tried the famous chwee kueh at Ghim Moh Food Centre yesterday as well; and i have mixed feelings. While the kuehs are soft and sticky (they still handmade the kuehs every single day), i found the cai por to be too salty (but that’s just because i prefer my cai por sweet). That said, they still have their loyal fans but i still personally prefer the Tiong Bahru or Bedok ones.

It took me quite a long while before I finally learned how to enjoy their version of one of Singapore’s most iconic breakfast items.

What sets them apart from most is that their uniquely prepared cai po is more savory than sweet, to the extent that it tends to feel too salty. Still, it’s mad addictive on its own although I usually pair it with a sweet cup of kopi to offset the saltiness.

Chwee Kueh (S$1.60/ 4 pieces)
Traditional inexpensive snack for breakfast.
Wish for more toppings although it’s slightly more salty than preferred.

Traditional Chwee Kueh at its prime.
Every ingredient in harmony to each other.
Of course, it's different from Tiong Bahru or Bedok ones.

Enough said, to see such feat.
No doubt just order and eat while it's fresh.
Salty chai poh matched the chilli sauce.
Once a while indulgence.
