Tried many 喜饼 places and this is one of my fav. The sweet tau sar pia is the best. Pastry is soft and flaky and the filling not too sweet. Peanut candy was fresh and crispy, not too much malt candy that made it too sticky.

Apart from serving their usual traditional bakes, Gin thye had expanded to incorporate themselves into the modern society. A cafe seating of 20 pax and situated right along chinatown, this bakery aims to attract tourist and locals alike. Their menu is no longer restricted to just traditional pastries such as those used in weddings, but also include modern pastries such as this durian egg roll. They promised to rotate the flavour every week to cater to more customers. In fact, their durian scent and flavour I'd pretty intense and suits my taste buds. Hever the egg roll is pretty dry, probably it had been left in the refrigerator for days.

NEW cafe opened at Chinatown - Gin Thye had officially opened their first 20 seaters cafe, offering pastries of different flavours every week.
Flavour-of-the-week: Durian.
The Swiss roll is slightly dry, probably due to prolonged refrigeration but the fragrant and delicious durian puree made up for it.
