Recently opened at Aperia Mall, we went to check out Gohan Cafe. Selling a range of rice bowls, noodles and tempura for lunch, I recalled seeing this particular rice bowl in their Instagram, so figured I'd just give it a shot. 🙏
This was the better bowl out of our three orders – crisp, juicy (and quite generous) karaage, tasty vegs and a mildy acidic and sticky sauce that was quite addictive. Prices aren't the cheapest but there aren't many similar places in the area, so when a craving hits, this might be your best bet for Japanese rice bowls!
Gohan cafe offers a range of Japanese dishes from Chirashi, sushi, udon to rice bowls. Chose the curry udon and added a plate of chicken katsu for another $2. Inaniwa udon is a type of udon that looks and feels like the thicker cousin of the flat rice noodles found in Ipoh horfun. I think the menu could be priced slightly lower. Get the black karaage don if you're here. Staff is friendly.
