Worth the travel ✨

Established in 1971, Goldleaf Restaurant is a Singapore heritage brand and purportedly the first Taiwanese restaurant in Singapore. They started off at Orchard Road and is currently located at Katong Square. This is my first time visiting the Katong Square outlet.

The light flavourful sauce accentuates the freshness of the fish. This was a well-enjoyed dish. If you're not a fan of the seabass, they offer other fish varieties too!

Are you ready for Chinese New Year feasting? 🐯🧧

Loaded with a generous amount of ingredients, this dish is simmered for more than 8 hours. Sitted in the thick golden broth, you'll find 18 ingredients including abalone, fish maw, sea cucumber, prawn, roasted pork, roasted chicken, dried oyster, scallop, mushroom, fatt choy, yam and many more! Price is inclusive of claypot (that you're free to keep) 💰

Lychee boba in yusheng?! 🤯

The first spot to offer this unique combination, this restaurant has continued the tradition of including lychee boba into yusheng every single year.

We got the standard version (without abalone) that costs $40.80. For every purchase of the Wealth Treasure Pot, you are entitled to a complimentary abalone yusheng (worth $68.80) ✨

One of their signatures, this is a homey dish that pairs well with the sweet potato porridge 蕃薯粥 ($2.20/pax). This soft and fluffy rendition was quickly polished off and definitely strikes us as a nostalgic dish! 🍳

This 2022 Chinese New Year, Goldleaf Restaurant has also created a special Festive Takeaway Set Jin Yu Man Tang (SGD $68.80 for 1 - 2 pax) that's great for couples looking for a festive meal.
There's a refreshing Abalone Yu Sheng which can either be tossed or shaken, and a luxurious Golden Porridge filled with clams, mussels, squid, prawns, and scallops, which is filling enough for 2 people.
There's also a 9 Varieties Box, which we were most intrigued by, as this special packaging is sourced from Taiwan, and fits 9 small dishes that are signatures of the house.
On this occasion, we had (pictured from left to right, top to bottom) these 9 dishes:
1) Cold Japanese Beancurd With Fried Shallots,
2) Tiger Prawns In Garlic Sauce,
3) Steamed Pork Patty With Salted Egg,
4) Stir-Fried Watercress With Wolfberries,
5) Soy Braised Pork Belly With Preserved Mustard Greens,
6) Egg Omelette With Preserved Radish,
7) Signature Chicken Curry,
8) Goldleaf Restaurant Pork And Prawn Rolls, and
9) Braised Beancurd With Bell Peppers.

What goes best with porridge? Savoury foods, of course! At Goldleaf, a family restaurant which serves Taiwanese Chinese food since 1971, there are plenty of comforting and savoury food items to choose from to go with their sweet potato porridge.

To celebrate their 50th anniversary, the restaurant is offering an ala carte BUFFET promotion with 50 dishes to choose from, at just $50 for 2 pax on Mondays to Thursdays. Value for money!

The curry chicken was flavourful and super homely while the riceball dessert was excellent! I would order many helpings of it!
