Say it with me: Kürtőskalács. Koort. Tú. Shka. Lech. That’s Hungarian chimney cakes, a jolly old spit pastry that well, resembles a chimney. Hailing from the capital of the Czech Republic (go figure), Good Food Coffee & Bakery serves up some interesting takes on the traditionally festive snack. Now say it with me again: KOORT. TÚ. SHKA. LECH. Kürtőskalács!
Situated where the classic ice-cream shop named after a certain Benjamin and a mouse who engages in an eternal tussle with a cat called Tom. Brick walls and domino colour scheme gives the place a clean barbershop sheen.
1️⃣ Chimney Paris ($7.50) - robust dark chocolate whipped cream with slices of strawberry, perfectly balanced as all things should be
2️⃣ Chimney Devil ($7.50) - this was weird, sometimes getting one for the gram doesn’t come through when the product is a devilishly confusing mix of activated carbon yoghurt ice cream and coconut shavings
3️⃣ Chimney Blizzard ($6.90) - simple bliss: chocolate & vanilla and biscuit shaped like a teddy
If you can pronounce Kürtőskalács you can do anything in the universe. Also you can give this place a pass, it really isn’t worth the moolah

Raspberry gelato was really good on its own, as it goes well with the raspbery powder sprinked on top. The sweet and sour flavour is really refreshing. However, the balance was thrown off when you bite it together with the chimney cone. Somehow, the both doesn’t match off well with each other.

Homemade chocolate gelato paired with chimney cone and dusted with pistachio bits. The chimney cone actually taste like a pastry, not too hard but is flakey. However, it does pair quite nicely with the chocolate gelato. The chocolate gelato is overly sweet if you ate it separately from the cone.

Soo happy I finally got a chance to try this!! 😍 I loved eating chimney cakes in Eastern Europe, and finally I have a chance to try it here in Singapore! 😋 They offer a variety of flavours and toppings here (even savory chimney cakes??), and we decided to get their signature Chimney King! This comes with homemade Vanilla ice cream, brownies, nuts and is drizzled with salted caramel and chocolate sauce. I love how rich and creamy the ice cream was! However, the chimney cake was not as fresh and fragrant as the ones I had in Eastern Europe, as it was not made on the spot. Nonetheless, this is still a really yummy (and instragamable) dessert option!! Do try this if you haven’t had this before 😋

I had the trdelnik in prague and I really enjoyed the crusty texture and the sweetness from cinnamon sugar dusted on the doughnut-like pastry. Good food coffee and bakery really brings back good memories of my eastern europe trip 3 years back and the chimney cake that I ordered from the shop was much tastier than the ones I had in my trip. It was dusted with cinnamon sugar and pistachio. In the middle of the hollow pastry, delicious dark chocolate softserve.

All the way from the Czech Republic 🇨🇿, Prague, @goodfoodsgp has finally made its way to our shores at @vivocitysingapore! Topped with either homemade gelato soft-serve or whipped cream, their freshly baked chimney cake series kinda reminded me of our iconic Singaporean ice cream sandwich, but a much more atas version of it 🤩. And guess what? If you’re not up for desserts, you can always go for their savoury selections such as the Chimney Breakfast which contains greens, guacamole & ham.

Home-made Vanilla Ice Cream with Nuts & Brownies, topped with Salted Caramel & Chocolate Sauce. Best-seller!

👉Chimney Pistachio👈
Home-made Chocolate Ice Cream, topped with Pistachio Crumbs

I really like how both ice cream flavours had a balanced and not overly-sweet profile, which complemented so well with the bready pastry cone. For those who haven’t tried any of their sweet chimneys, I’m sure the Chimney King will not disappoint 😋.
P.S. Look out for their new in-house Pistachio ice cream that will be coming soon in October!

Thank you Serene @goodfoodsgp for the warm hospitality 🖤.
