So, what is so special about this mee siam? Basically, what you can find here is literally MEE siam that is served with yellow noodle.
.
At just $2.50, the MEE siam come with a substantial mound of yellow noodle, two halves of an hard-boiled egg, chopped chives, tau pok and a dollop of sweet sambal all sitting in a pool of gravy.

Saw posts of this mee siam all over Facebook and was expecting a good mee siam treat .

Not quite the authentic mee siam - this was more like a cross of mee siam and diluted laksa and in fact tasted more like a very soupy laksa.

Lacking the robustness and tangy ness of a good mee siam unfortunately .

The auntie who helms Grandma Mee Siam is really friendly and chatty. She told me that her stall has been around for nearly 40 years but isn't sure if anyone will be taking over from her.

They serve a decent old-school style mee siam. I personally prefer my gravy a little more tangy and savouy. So if you prefer subtler flavours, this will probably warm your cockles!

mee siam, chicken wing, liver roll

The mee siam was lacking in flavour and would have tasted better if it were spicier or more sour. What I liked, interestingly, was the ngoh hiang sold at the side! Both the chicken wing and liver roll were well-fried and tasty.

Not a big lover of Fried Bee Hoon for its always a tad greasy for me but Grandma Mee Siam’s Fried Bee Hoon is pretty decent — liked how they serve Ngoh Hiang platter items alongside so ordered the Ngoh Hiang Roll and Prawn Crackers to go along. The latter was crisp and umami, while the chili carried just the right level of spiciness and twang that makes it so satisfying. Pretty sure this wouldn’t be the last time I am having this!
