Mee Hoon Kuay

Other than TOP 1 in beauty world centre, this place is another favourite of mine for handmade noodles, particularly Mee Hoon Kuay. Hand stretched and pulled into pieces, the noodles are very chewy and full of bite. Have it dry, and tossed in dark sauce and Chili, it is definitely yummy. Well balanced of the sweet and spicy, and savoury from the well fried ikan bilis, I can understand why office crowd love this.
Take note that if you like heat, it's better to go for TOP 1 Noodles.
The spam fries isn't my favourite, maybe because the luncheon meat used isn't the great. And that fried niangao wasn't that yummy too, maybe because the flour was too overwhelming and thick that it takes away the taste of the niangao. Proportion wasn't done right. So just stick to their mains.

Thanks to Veronica, I've been craving for this.

Finally made my way to my local fav stall and ordered the large portion with extra greens. Spicy of course!

Oh, I fall to temptation so easily, especially when it comes to food.

A trip to my fav meehoon kueh shop turned out somewhat different. So would you like to try our signature pig stomach soup, she asks as I placed my meehoon kueh order. I couldn't resist and so got myself a bowl. Boy, oh boy, it was good. Peppery and piping hot, this was very comforting especially on rainy afternoons.

Dry Mee Hoon Kueh

♢CHEAP&GOOD♢
This handmade mee hoon kueh can be found at Far East Plaza. Handmade upon order, the kueh can be a little thick and chewy, but the sauce is really savory and quite spicy that it is too shiok to stop!

Fried Mee Tai Mak

As a kid in the 90s, Far East Plaza was our place to shop for cheap garb ( before we had money to fly to bkk for shopping trips). Being poor students, we had to scrimp to buy hip clothes and accessories. So when we are hungry, we just head upstairs to 4th floor & 5th floor for cheap orchard road food galore. This fried mee tai mak is the lower GI option of char kway teow. It taste almost exactly the same, but instead of hum, you get tasty shiitake mushrooms instead. This is still as delicious many years down. 😋 #hawkerpedia

Dry Mee Hoon Kueh

One of the cheap finds you can get along orchard road. This bowl of Mee hoon kueh looks messy because the chilli and soy sauce is well mixed for you. The Mee hoon kueh is nice and chewy and there is enough clumps of pork. $4.50 for this goodness.

#dinner many days ago w @amandalumpy. Indonesian Fried Rice w Egg & Prawn Cracker! $4.50ea(forgotten sorry). taste average, but good enough to fill your stomach after a long day's of work! green chili ftw! #chinesefood #friedrice #egg

Mee Hoon Kueh!

Love how this little hole in the wall shop at Far East Plaza does it! Hand torn, cooked till the right chewy or QQ consistency, doused with sauce and all you need is a little chilli padi, you have a bowl of umami and shiokness! I like how the Auntie and Uncle here accommodates my request for a large bowl of soup with additional shue chai choi

Hunting for cheap and good eats along Orchard is a challenge.

This little eatery is hidden up on the 4th floor of Far East Plaza. 🔸🔸
Saw a newspaper cutting pasted on the glass that said top ten banmian. Obviously had to try. Dry minced pork banmian (no soupy ones). Banmian was chewy in a nice way. Garnished with minced pork and ikan bilis (anchovies) & tossed in dark soya mixed with spicy chilli sauce.
🔸🔸
Banmian itself is bland but mixed with the sauces, it was a delightful (not wow) comforting meal. Portion is very small so may not be enough for big eaters. Cost $4.50.
