Group Therapy (Duxton)

1241 Wishlisted
~$25/pax
Group Therapy is a collective space that is tucked away on the 2nd storey of a reconstructed shophouse in the newly gentrified Duxton enclave. Our adjunct café is an expression of our love for nourishment through coffee, food and good drink. Our beans are a tailored blend of 100% Arabica beans, which are freshly ground on premise for each and every cup. Our menu serves All-Day Breakfast items (which is our favourite meal of the day) such as Poached Eggs & Smoked Salmon on Thick Toast as well as other lunch items like Paninis, Pies & Stews. We love to shout about our dessert and unique menu of boutique beers, which boasts an amazing 4-layer carrot cake as well as the award-winning Coedo Beniaka & Delirium Tremens brews.

$13 tea set. Waffles that is a bit chewy and different from the other cafes

@grouptherapycafe has an interesting spin on traditional pancakes and yknow what? It works! Their pumpkin pancakes is served with perfectly cooked poached eggs, fresh smoked salmon, a rich hollandaise, and a dollop of tobiko roe 😍

Never tried savoury pancakes before? We suggest starting here! 😉

Pancakes were soft and fluffy. The combination of pancakes, salmon and poached eggs with hollandaise sauce were excellent!

Pumpkin pancake with coral lettuce, smoked salmon, poached eggs, hollandaise, tobiko roe.

The pancake itself is sweetened and goes well with the saltiness from the smoked salmon and tobiko toe.

I fell in love with their pumpkin pancake when I visited a year ago. It has since lost its magic.

The pancake now is mushy, much thicker and more like a “hotcake” served in many cafes nowadays. I did not enjoy the mushy texture.

As the pancake is HUGE there is not sufficient sauce and egg yolk to go with it and I ended up with more than half of “dry” pancake.

Sure, it may be more bang for my buck due to the bigger portion now but bring back the old pancake (or maybe chef in this case) please.

The simple Bacon Mushroom Aglio Olio is soul food with just the right balance of garlic and Chili; al dente pasta and copious amounts of bacon bites to add to the umami. This has become a staple for me here, so much so that I haven’t ventured beyond this first item on the pasta menu.

🥩🍝 Beef Ragu ($19) — This pasta topped with beef shin and cheese was well seasoned and had an al dente texture. Extremely generous serving too!! 😋
🍞🍣 Poached Eggs Salmon ($16) & 🥑🍣Skinny Eggs Ben ($17) — In general, their extensive eggs breakfast menu is a must try!! The smoked salmon in both of our dishes was flavorful and filling too 😀
Besides their beautiful poached egg, Skinny Eggs Ben had avocado smash which was not bland but well seasoned, to our surprise.

Cafe Ambience: 5/5
Food Rating: 9/10
Expected Damage: Avg $18 (excluding coffee)
