Update: Store owners have annouced on Facebook that they are retiring with immediate effect.

Guan Kee was a Michelin Bib Gourmand listed stall located at Ghim Moh Market.

When I went to queue for this 1 month ago on a lunch time Sunday, had to queue at least an hour.

Their CKT tasted very flavourful, wok hei was evident and the entire dish had just the right "Wetness" to it.

Since 1969, this legendary stall has been reowned for their classic rendition of char kway teow, drawing queues of up to 40 minutes long during their limited opening hours.
.
Each plate is individually fried, the wide flat rice noodles and long cylindrical yellow wheat noodles tossed with crisp bean sprouts, wispy egg, crunchy chye sim / chinese flowering cabbage, chewy lup cheong / dried cured pork sausage, tender fish cake, and juicy blood cockles.
.
Balanced lashings of dark sweet soy sauce lend a sweet salty note to the smoky savoury sweet flavours within, while the chili lends a sharp spicy kick. Yum.

Suddenly craving for Char Kway Teow the other day and they are one of the better one around my hood. Open 3 days a week, from 7.30am till 2pm (usually sold out shortly after lunch), Guan Kee Fried Kway Teow is one of the most popular stalls at Ghim Moh Road Market & Food Centre. The queue is forever long.. Finally got my plate of Char Kway Teow after 45mins of queuing. Worth it!

Fried Kway Teow, $3/$4/$5. Known as Ghim Moh Fried Kway Teow, has recently be listed in Michelin Bib Gourmand Singapore 2019! Yayyy! .
.
.
Living up to Ghim Moh Gems stalls, they are one of those stall that has the longest q in the hawker so it’s very hard to be missed! It’s mouth-watering and fried fragrantly with a decent wok-hei taste, sooooo shiok! Fried generous with eggs, cockles, fried pork lard and Chinese sausage!! .
.
.
We would definitely beat the 45min q for this plate of fried Kway Teow again! .
.
Opens 4 times a week on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 7am-2pm! .

Each plate of kway teow here is fried individually.
.
Available in three sizes ($3/$4/$5), I ordered the medium plate.
.
I noticed the color of the fried kway teow is not as dark as others. Due to the subdued sweetness from the sweet sauce, the savoriness stood out more. I find the kway teow well infused with a alluring wok hei.
.
In between mouthfuls, you get a bit of chye sim, bean sprouts, fried egg, lup cheong, pork lard and cockles.
.
Worthy of a mention here is the crispy pork lard which provided the occasional burst of crunchy saltiness to each mouthful of slippery noodles.
