This used to be one of the to-visit stalls whenever I visit this hawker centre. Unfortunately, the noodles were overcooked, sticky and clumpy this time round. Other than the texture of noodles, everything else was still good. Probably just one of the times the aunty missed getting the right timing for the perfect al dente noodle texture γ$3.50
They serve pretty good al dente egg noodles tossed in homemade chilli and ketchup that comes with a good bite. I like how the noodles does not come with a strong alkaline taste. The char siew are thinly sliced and comes in a old school bright red colour. Other than wanton noodles, this stall also sell dumpling and shredded chicken noodles γ$3.50
This stall is usually open in the early evening till night but they are now open in the morning till early evening since the start of the circuit breaker. A good chance for me to get this for breakfast when iβm going to the office during this WFH period.
I have tried so many plates of wanton noodles and my persistency finally led me to what I deem as a perfect plate of old school Wanton mee.
Every element on this plate is yums!
The char siew is well seasoned and lean but still moist and the noodles are QQ without imparting too much of an alkaline taste. The wantons are plump and juicy and the homemade chilli is so addictive .
Not exactly the most convenient to get to but for this I would come back anytime.
