I was a little apprehensive about checking out @hainanhometowncurry at Ghim Moh FC. The stallfront was adorned with various media accolades but there appears to be no queue in front of the stall even during the busy lunchtime hour. After walking around the FC (and the long line for Hin Fried Hor Fun), I decided to give Hainan Hometown Curry a shot.

For $4.50, you get a nice bowl of curry with a chicken drumstick, 2 to 3 pieces of chicken and some potatoes. You can top up $1 for some curry vegetables.

This is one good solid old school bowl of chicken curry. The chicken is soft and tender. But the curry itself was just superb. It is thick, creamy, flavourful and mildly spicy. I couldn't resist drinking up the curry as if it was some sort of soup.

It was so good that I actually went back on the same day to dabao for dinner. The curry chicken was sold out so I ordered their pork rib curry instead. The pork ribs were off the bone tender but I felt that the slightly gamey taste of the pork did not go really well with the creamy curry gravy.

I will also recommend their fish fillet curry. For each order, you will get two large pieces of fish fillet which are deep fried to order.

If you like generous portions and the taste of old school homely curries, this is definitely one place you should check out!

The curry chicken here is solid and damn nostalgic but the sellers were very rude. They were very aggressive and impatient with the old man in front of me which is quite a turn off. Idk if curry chicken is good enough to bring me back lol.

+$1 for curry vege

Kinda ex for hawker center price and I’ve tasted better curry rice before so nah from me. Maybe their curry chicken is better idk

You could choose either bread or a bowl of rice to pair with your curry. The spiciness is quite manageable, so you definitely can soak up as much curry with your bread as you want, without feeling the need to get a drink.

The Hainanese-style mutton curry at Hai Nan Hometown Curry completely satisfy my taste buds. The gravy is thick, flavourful, mildly spicy with a hint of coconut milk and goes wonderfully well with their light and fluffy bread.
We also ❤️❤️❤️ the chunky pieces of mutton that is cooked till tender and even reveal a blushing pink in the centre. Yum 🤤
