Hougang Jing Jia Mutton Soup can be found at this food centre. I would recommend to go with the mixed option that comes with everything, if you acceptable with the meat parts.

The soup is definitely creamy, and generous amount of meat parts in it.

Unlike the spinach soup with century and salted egg, the one with YTF is much lighter. The broth is mild and clear with natural sweetness in there. Somehow the taste of YTF overwhelmed the natural taste of the soup and I preferred the former instead. Add $0.50 for rice or noodles if you need some carbs to fill your belly but I feel that the portion is huge and good enough to go light on carbs 》$4

The spinach soup with century and salted egg comes with minced meat, mushroom, wolfberries and a huge amount of spinach. The soup is light and savoury while the century and salted eggs added a touch of richness and saltiness to the soup. The eggs did help to thicken and intensify the soup, giving it a more satisfying fuller-bodied consistency - lots of umami flavours in there. Add $0.50 for rice or noodles if you need some carbs to fill your belly 》$4

Affordable and delicious plate of wantan mee! Black sauce with springy egg noodles, char siew and fried wantons. Comes with a bowl of tasty soup. What I like is the al dente texture of the noodles 💯.

“Mee Pork Tah” from “Boon Wah Fishball Noodles” (#01-42) - I wasn’t expecting much from my $3 bowl but ended up slurping it with gusto. The noodles were cooked perfectly al dente, and the fishballs, were large and bouncy. I wished there was more chew to the minced meat but if you like it soft and “powdery”, theirs will please. Interestingly, the chilli sambal was not the usual sweet style. Instead, it’s savoury and there was a pleasant grittiness to it. The lady who prepared my order told me her mum-in-law made it. I didn’t find the sambal very spicy, so do ask for extra if you prefer your noodles to pack a big kick. Soup is clear and quite plain. So unless you like that style, I think it’s better to get the dry version here.

😃 Old school wantan noodles (S$3). Al dante egg noodles mixed in dark sauce. The egg noodles had a nice bite and the wantons were tasty. The char siew however was very average. Overall not bad at this price.

Noticed there’s always a queue! While I’d prefer thicker slices of fish, thought this was pretty good for $5. This porridge was more like soup + rice. Soup here is light, and not too oily (save for the use of fried shallots). Quite generous with ingredients, sliced fish was firm and fresh; so were the sweet crunchy prawns and sotong which had just the right texture - not too chewy nor soft.

Totally average char kway teow. To top it off, it was fried by a man who is ultra stingy with his ingredients.... he counted the strands of kway teow and noodles, and the pieces of fish cakes and sausages that he dropped into the wok. This is the portion for $3.50.

Wanton noodles ($3)

Noodles are springy and very nice to eat, not too alkaline. However can be saltier. All else is good! Explains the queue.
