Ordered the spicy Pork and Chicken Katsu Don. Wasn't expecting such a big meal! In total, there was about 6 pcs of Katsu?! We struggled to finish it.

They only serve Katsu Don mainly with the choice of spicy and non spicy. I like that they have the option of multi grain rice.

The Katsu itself is super tender! Surprised to see something fried to crispy perfection yet tender within (imagine breast meat).

Super yummy.

Ha-na katsudon - $13.50

Classic rice bowl that’s layered with tons of pork & chicken cutlets, which are thin and crisp. Comes with multigrain rice option, drizzled with egg gravy. Their spicy version really burns, be warned

Katsudon Hanakatsu

Making decisions on what to have here was really simple because they only served Katsudon here, whether spicy or not. And at S$13.50, a platter of battered pork and chicken fillets were plated in the form of a flower above a bed of Hokkaido rice. Apparently they shared the same bowls as Tendon Kohaku, so it was not strange to see some similarities in terms of their presentation.

Meat lovers might either be delighted or disappointed with the Katsus. One might argue that the slices were too thin for liking, but I thought it was just the right thickness to go with the batter, and having six pieces of meat with w smaller portion of rice made it appear favourably out of proportion. The spicy element was also quite flavoursome, with traces of sugar to balance off that burning sensation a little. Kind of reminded me of a spicy chicken burger from the big M.

On the downside, the waiting time of more than 15 minutes was uncalled for, given that there was no customer before me who was still waiting for his food to be served. It so happened that shortly after I placed my order, a group of seven came in and placed their order. Let’s just say that my food was eventually served, I took this photo, finished my meal, and finally came their dinner. Just wondered if they would also take this long during their lunch service actually.

** July 2019 ** The restaurant only serves the katsudon and 1.5SGD Miso soup + some drinks. The fried pork is on the thinner side - not my preference but my bf loves it. Rice is from Hokkaido and can change to multigrain rice (we tried, also very good !)
Each bowl is S$13.5++. The spicy one isn’t too hot as it is a Japanese restaurant

Felt like eating some Katsu-Don. So googled and “Katsudon Hanakatsu” came up in the search. Headed there since I’ve not been there before.

There were only 2 types of Katsu Don on the menu to choose from - the regular or spicy. Ordered the regular bowl with Nanatsuboshi Hokkaido Rice. Was disappointed with their service though - considering that there were only 2 customers at that time, it took them quite a while before I was served. Good thing I had my Netflix to distract me from my hunger.

This is not your usual Katsu Don - The bowl had 6 medium-thick crispy pork and chicken slices f fan our like a flower - on top of some eggy sauce - thinly breaded, tender, crispy and not oily at all. Not bad at all. Went really well with the free pickled radish with yuzu. I liked the picked radish so much - I probably ate 3/4 of it from the pickle jar. 😋 Regretted ordering their Miso Soup though - it tasted more like cabbage soup.
