First time trying old wife biscuit and my, was I in for a pleasant surprise.

The winter melon filling was just the right amount of sweetness for me, and I enjoyed the buttery and flaky crust. Didn't expect the biscuit to be that soft though. My personal preference is that the biscuit tastes better when it's still warm.

This box was purchased from their branch at raffles city though but I couldn't find the pinned location. $15 for a box of six biscuits.

My, my, I must say I am quite surprised that I liked it. I have never liked such pasteries but I will eat these. The wife biscuits, aka lao po bing is nice. The soft texture isn't too sweet and blends well with the buttery crust. The same goes for the red bean biscuit and the filling is smooth without the taste of too much sugar. I do not like the mung bean pastry though, but I think it's a matter of preference. Its probably because I prefer the sandy texture of the penang type of mung bean pastry. Do visit this place and try their pasteries. There isn't a long snaking queue so you do not have to worry about standing till your legs break.

💸 Wife cake: $2.80/pc; $15/box of 6 pcs
One of the few pastry shops that we never fail to buy back from when we visit Hong kong, we were thrilled to know that Hang Heung finally has a branch in Singapore!🤩 Been a fan of their wife cake since years ago and indeed it still remains as one of our favourites.🤤 Best eaten hot to enjoy the flaky pastry with soft and sticky winter melon filling.🔥 However, it can get a little sweet and cloying after a while and thus is best paired with a hot cup of tea!🍵 Afternoon tea checked!!!✔️
