the vvv sweet and friendly owner rec this and it was indeed good!! a lot of banchan was given too
Hands down one of the BEST soft tofu stews we’ve EVER tasted!! it rlly had a lot of ingredients: prawns, tofu, pork, clams, and lots of kimchi and leeks. They don’t just spam kimchi inside, the cabbage in this stew is so soft and soaked up all the flavours from the soup itself. It’s a little pricey at $20 but I would definitely go back for it
This is perfect when the weather is chilly to warm you up. Best shared among a few friends, this comforting pot of army stew comes with a slew of fresh ingredients such as canned beans, spam, sausages, tofu and kimchi all cooked together in spicy broth then add a packet of ramyeon to complete it. The best part is the refillable Banchan that was served upon order 》$38 / medium
This was done with a nice crisp on the outside. It comes with a good amount of vegetables and seafood. I feel the inside was a little too starchy/soggy and bland. I would prefer it to be more firm and crispier with more flavours 》$15 / medium
I've had this before and it's not great this time. There's barely any seafood and the pancake was not done very well. They also have kimchi pancake and leek pancake, and interestingly this encompasses those ingredients too.
One of my go-to dishes in Korean cuisine. The serving is huge and I took a long time to finish the meat, but it's mediocre beef. The gravy was way too little.
📍Hanwoori, Serangoon Gardens
My first time tasting Samgyetang that was so bland. The good thing is that there is free flow top up of the soup. Went on a Saturday night when it was really crowded even with reservations. Though it’s a nice family friendly joint, the acoustics aren’t great so it was quite deafening inside.
Pancake was so-so only, expensive for the quality and size of it. Service was quite slow and took very long to refill our sides.
⭐️ 2.5/5 for the pancake
LOVE the noodle texture, super Q! Black bean sauce wasn’t too salty and came with chunks of potato, onions and pork. Only quelm is that the portion is a little small for the price point :(
⭐️ 4/5 for taste, 2/5 for price
This place is always packed on a weekend dinner time so make a reservation. Had seafood pancake (M size is enough for 4 people), kimchi soup, beef soup and seafood tofu soup and all taste super similar to Korea versions. Not to mention the 10 side dishes they had which were all great esp the kimchi and fish cake.
Affordable and worth a visit.
While the portion wasn’t that big for its price tag, the kimchi base was refillable and the variety of ingredients that came with it was not bad. They had beans, dumplings, mushrooms and prawns, on top of the usual rice cakes, luncheon meat, sausages and beansprouts. The pack of instant noodles was an additional $3 top up. Broth was comforting but felt a little heavy handed with the msg. Banchan spread was good though - there were 10 and all, including the marinated eggs were refillable. We had ours refilled about 3 to 4 times!
Also, if you’re looking for desserts, there’s Dessert Bowl just a few doors down for a really shiok Durian Mousse ($5)!
Had quite a bit of seafood in here but the pancake was too thick and starchy. Would have liked it crispier!
Quite a pricey bowl and though it had a kick of spice, the broth unfortunately fell a little flat. Would have liked a lot more bite in the noodles.
