This is the kinda Chao Da we desire, rather than those were done with much oil to achieve the crispy burnt (fried) effect. We love that underneath the layer the Beehoon’s still moist and tasty.
They sure do their Tze Char dishes well. We were impressed with their crispy fried Kailan with pork floss that was on point, non oily leaves with juicy crunchy stems. The pork floss topping was just so generous.
Lala in “chilli crab” sauce was a convenient alternative to crab; though we had to add more chilli to the sauce to have the spicy kick that we prefer.
Overall, we enjoyed the meal in this neighbourhood coffeeshop Tze Char and would definitely return for more.

Love this thinly fried crisp layers of greens from this Zi Char stall in Toa Payoh! Does this sound like a healthier ‘chips’?

First was from my swim earlier, and now, this Chao Ta Bee Hoon from this popular Zi Char stall in Toa Payoh is seriously da bomb. Really crispy texture on the outside, full of wok hei, and I am so coming back again for it!

Chao Tah Bee Hoon 炒焦米粉 (S$6)
It looked plain and oily, but it’s packed lots of liao inside such as prawns 🦐, squid 🦑, vegetables and crispy pork lards.

Nice food, but serving is huge. Could possibly reduce the price with a smaller serving?

Hao Kee’s Chao Tar Bee Hoon - The dish features stir-fried rice vermicelli that has been flattened and shaped into a pancake. Then, the noodles are swirled around in a scorching hot wok to create a charred and crisp surface.
