We fell in love with their sandos previously and we came back again to try their signature this time. The tonkatsu patty was crispy, juicy and tender and had just the right amount of fats to meat! The Karashi mayo and otafuku sauce made every bite sweet salty and tangy at the same time. Their sandwich bread was perfectly buttered and toasted as well. However, we waited around 20-30 mins for the sando to be served, perhaps because they make it fresh, which probably explains why the tonkatsu and bread were so crispy 😋😋😋 Serving size wise, this is definitely enough for a hearty meal.

‼️ ive always loved cream/custardy desserts which gives me tht creamy satisfaction tht i crave relentlessly!! if you’ll to give me Chateraise’s custard puff everyday, i will love u 😘 bt these are a next level 🤓

what ive gotten (no. from top to bottom):
1️⃣ Whipped Cream Bun (~$2.70) :b
2️⃣ Custard Cream Bun (~$2.70) :3
3️⃣ Lemon Bun (~$3) :o

i can see why ppl love them, simply bc thyre 1) generous w the fillings 2) the texture/consistency is creamy n yet light ☁️ enuf for 1 to finish in a sitting 😜

evidently all are whites 🤍 bt thyre taste profiles are extremely different. ofc the lemon one has a zestier note which refreshes ur taste buds everytime u bite into thm! not forgetting the crumbly cookie crust tht encapsulates the fillings! (wherease the other 2 are soft buns vibe 🍞) note: the zesty part is only a tiny bit within the fillings tho!! wish tht thr were more 🤩💘

altho whipped cream n custard cream seems somewhat the same bt trust me; thy taste diff! custard has more milkier🥛note n denser/substantial-feel compared to the whipped cream bun!

We originally thought that their sandos might not be able to fill our bellies for lunch but we were so wrong! For $14++, you get generous portions of lemongrass marinated grilled chicken thigh with capsicums, mix cabbage and tomatoes in yuzu and karashi mayo. Their perfectly buttered and toasted bread was the cherry on the cake; I can even eat it on its own.

We thought that the karashi mayo overpowered both the yuzu and the lemongrass flavour, which was a pity. Nevertheless, this sando made me belly full and happy. Definitely coming back for their other flavours.

Every visit to Hattendo should end with a tryout of Hattendo's signature cream buns! At $2.70++ per bun, these do not come cheap and for good reason! Each bun comes with a soft and fluffy exterior and is filled with matcha cream! The filling was relatively generous and served cold - this probably explains the price.

Nonetheless, we would like to highlight that the matcha taste is not very evident in the filling and we somewhat expected it to be more bitter. That being said, we are looking forward to try the other fillings one day (especially the custard filling 😁)!

Hattendo isn't very big, especially when compared to their previous outlet at Tanjong Pagar. Hence, if you are coming here in a big group, you can contact the cafe over WhatsApp and they are open to accepting reservations! Do note that the restaurant is only open until 6 p.m., so in general, it is more of a breakfast/lunch venue and you probably need to find somewhere else for dinner.

Don't mistake this for your kopi o kosong, as Hattendo's filter coffees come with pretty unique flavours and notes! We ordered the filter coffee using beans from Colombia today and the drink is made-to-order as we watched the barista prepare the drink using a gooseneck kettle and a V60 filter! Despite the drink looking plain black, it actually comes with a pretty floral taste. In addition, the drink wasn't very acidic and this coffee does not leave a lingering sourish aftertaste.

Hattendo offers filter coffees from 8 different regions at only $6.50++, so do take your pick! The cafe also sells coffee beans although you will need to wait a while if you order because time is needed to prepare them.

We decided to stop by Pipes by Hattendo for lunch today as we saw snippets of their mouth-watering offerings on Burpple! Hattendo's lunch menu currently focuses on sandos (Japanese katakana for sandwiches), and we decided to try the Tamago and Potato Salad sandwich since it reminds us of the delicious egg sandwiches we could get from Lawson in Japan.

Hattendo's sandwiches certainly didn't disappoint - Each sandwich comes with an ajitsuke egg (aka the ramen egg) which was perfectly done, with a yolk that was half-solid and half-watery! Underneath the egg, you can find potato salad made in-house at Hattendo! This is not your normal potato salad, however, as a small amount of truffle oil has been drizzled over it to make the sandwich really fragrant. To top it off, Hattendo's bread was toasted and buttered (the buttered bread is Hattendo's house specialty as well), which made it crispy and mouth-watering at the same time!

For only $14++, do give this a try! However, we would highly encourage you to share this with someone as the egg and potato salad can be pretty heavy/gelat and you may get full quite easily. If you are on Burpple Beyond, you may want to visit between Tues and Fri in order to enjoy 30% off on your entire bill 😁
