food came in fairly large portions and did not taste oily despite the exorbitant amount of oil on the plate... the chicken was smooth and tender, the saucy noodles had a good bite and the tofu was crispy and well-seasoned!
famed for its michelin stars, the soy sauce chicken does live up to its name. super tender and flavourful with every bite! rice was fragrant too~ satisfying meal!
The world famous Liao Fan/Hawker Chan has been touted as the cheapest Michelin starred meal, which is true. However, itโs not the cheapest soya sauce chicken around town, but itโs definitely one of the best.โ

$8.40 gets you a pretty big bowl of soya sauce chicken hor fun, and I added on a portion of char siew & roast pork for $4.20 each. The chicken skin is beautifully brown, sumptuously smooth & seasoned splendidly. The meat itself was moist & undeniably umami despite being a top quarter cut, and itโs quality was on par with the best in the business.โ

Oddly enough, the char siew was the real rockstar here even though the soya sauce chicken was excellent. It was sweet & salty in all the right amounts, the char was just right with little spots of burnt crust, and the meat was majestically marbled with fantastic fat. Every bite was boundless bliss, with the tastefully thick slices of juicy pork providing plenty of pleasure with every bite.โ

The roast pork was rather redolent as well, with a decently crackling rind, a flavoursome amount of well roasted fat, and superbly salted & spiced meat. Itโs a piquant piece of pork thatโs perfect for pigging out on, and Iโm glad I ordered it.โ

I never had the patience to try the original stall at Chinatown Complex. However, the franchises are decent enough despite a reported slump in standards compared to the original stall.
The roasted meats tastsd good - firm, well seasoned and tender! However, i thought that the sauce that the noodles was mixed with was very mediocre - mainly spicy, and nothing else.
Charsiew is the lean kind that I like but might suit the taste of others who like the fatty kind. Pork ribs is okay but prob wont go out of my way to order it. Beansprouts a tad too raw for my liking. Noodle was pretty good, but rice has the sauce which is not bad too. Wish they provide the chilli for the noodles outside so tt i can add more. The default amt given was too little for me.
A very respectable plate of chicken rice this is, but Iโm not entirely convinced itโs award winning(even at the original outlet). What I like is the pieces of pork crackling strewn over the plate and the handful of soybeans. Do add on the roast pork($3), which was fatty and tender.
