To celebrate Singapore’s birthday, it’s time to jiak some local delights in a comfortable air conditioned eatery at Hawkerman.
For the both of us, we had difficutly deciding what to order. Thus, we decided to order the Bao Ka Liao sharing platter ($32.90)- serves 2 pax.
The Bao Ka Liao sharing platter comes together with various items such as:
1️⃣ Tenderfresh Signature Fried Half Spring Chicken
2️⃣ Warong Kim’s Hokkien Mee
3️⃣ Ah Boy’s Hokkien Popiah
4️⃣ XO Carrot Cake
5️⃣ Salted Egg Crispy Chicken
6️⃣ Citrus Plum Watermelon
7️⃣ Kimchi Coleslaw with fried muah chee

Personally, I feel that it is worthwhile trying this platter and I especially like their Salted egg crispy chicken and their citrus plum watermelon was really refreshing to end our meal with.

I will be excited to try the other items in their menu during my next visit 📍 Hawkerman [Singapore Post Centre, #B1-128/129] 🚇 Paya Lebar MRT

For a sum of its counterpart, this is pretty good value.

But it’s a mix of more misses than hits.

Hits:
The plum syrup watermelon :) sweetly refreshing. Can get cloyingly sweet however so have it between bites of the more hearty and savoury

The XO sambal was pretty piquant. Although lacking a punch.

Tender fresh chicken is as usual, averagely tasting.

My dinner date did think the salted egg and egg sauce chicken was pretty okay. I thought the fried popcorn chicken was cold, hard and not crispy.. having salted egg and egg sauce is also.. kinda a lumpy weird. Cannot understand haha.

Misses:
The hokkien Mee was.. lacklustre and one dimensionally PRAWNY BRINY. On an intense level.. no wok hei, no aroma. Just prawny briny :/

Really briny

The carrot cake too just a flat tasting bland cake of flour/kueh

Pretty much average tasting popiah and kimchi slaw. Kimchi was not so accented.

but was saying this was at hawkerman!! we took 20mins to be seated and the restaurant had an interesting concept of western x asian. so the menu had things like bibimbap, chilli crab pasta, nasi lemak etcetc.
I ordered the grilled chicken ($9.90) and the chicken was soft and tender! Fries were charred though. My friends ordered bibimbap ($8.90) and chilli crab pasta, taste of the food was decent but the portion was a lil small
