My heart goes bedok-bedok whenever I think of Hay, Gelato 🀀 My friend is their biggest fan so I knew I just had to go down, and was completely charmed! I loved the Balsamic Strawberry, which came with tangy freeze-dried strawberry bits on top, with the slight sourness complementing the sweetness of the strawberry. Although I was hesitant to order it, the balsamic taste is pretty faint and generally did not affect the flavour profile - they can definitely afford for it to be stronger!

The Vanilla Himalayan Salt was light and refreshing with a subtly salty aftertaste, which I felt was a unique addition to the classic vanilla option. In fact, the malty cereal bits on top also offered another layer to every bite, as well as a great crunch that contrasted the smooth, creamy gelato.

Of course, there's no way I can omit the gorgeously golden-brown waffles! Light and crispy on the outside and perfectly fluffy on the inside, they're hands-down the best waffles I've ever had β€” they've since become the waffle standard whenever I try new places.

Hay, Gelato opens until 2am daily so you can always grab some post-supper sweet treats with your friends. East side best side, truly ✌️

Back at Hay Gelato to try their interesting flavours and we left really impressed.

The Preserved Orange Peel flavour taste extremely like what it is made of, and yet with a refreshing touch. Really fragrant, totally recommend if you like a critus touch!

The Balsamic Strawberry may sound strange (there really is balsamic vinegar in there, you can't really taste it) but the strawberry is really fragrant and super refreshing. Another must get πŸ˜‚

The damage was $8.40, felt like it was pretty worth it for the quality of ice cream I was getting 😍

Had their pistachio and dark chocolate ice cream on a waffle. Was pleasantly surprised by the waffle actually. Wasn’t soft to the point where the ice cream overpowered it and wasn’t tough where it would be better off had alone. My favourite part of this was the pistachio ice cream though. It’s not too sweet, like most other ice cream parlours nowadays, but still really creamy and flavourful. Definitely recommended that flavour if you head down there!

Tried their roasted pistachio ($5.20) and my oh my, it's one of the best pistachio ice cream I've had. Smooth and creamy, the pistachio flavour is strong in this one. I love how they add some crushed pistachios on top, to provide a different texture and intensify the flavour as well. Really really satisfying.
