📍Heap Seng Leong, North Bridge Road📍
💸 Kaya Butter Toast (2 slices): $1.40
💸 Soft-boiled Eggs (2 eggs): $1.40

Weekend calls for a good local breakfast at Heap Seng Leong with the family! Their charcoal-grilled toast is pretty good, soft and crispy🍞. The cold butter was also a pretty thick slab, making it super satisfying to bite into🧈. However we felt that their kaya is not as fragrant, and the amount given could be more as well🥹! Special shout-out to their soft-boiled eggs though🥚, they were huge and fresh, super yumz!

Starts your day with a cup of aromatic black coffee that is topped off with a slab of butter. The marriage of Kopi and butter was heavenly, giving a smooth texture. Personally, I prefer the Kopi O Butter or Kopi O Gu You as the taste was more outstanding without the milk.

Unlike most coffee shops in Singapore, their bread is toasted on a charcoal fire, thereafter, they will process it by scraping away the black parts and spreading the traditional canned kaya over it. Lastly, they will include a slice of butter within.

The eggs are only prepared upon ordering, thus there is a wait of about 6-8 minutes. These half-boiled eggs were already cracked for customers and therefore we do not have to do it by ourselves. Enjoy them with some dashes of pepper and dark soya sauce.

If you want to have a feel of enjoying some traditional breakfast in old settings, a visit to Heap Seng Leong will definitely give you that experience.

Old style toasted bread with Kaya and butter. So good I can have this for breakfast lunch and dinner. The coffee is also very aromatic. You can also choose to add a piece of butter for a smoother drink.

Special mention for the Malay stall in this Kopitiam. Their curry pok and Nasi lemak is worth a try. But be aware the curry pok is cooked in batches so waiting time can be quite long. I came at 10.30 and was in time for a batch.

Must support the old uncle making coffee and toasting the bread. No many such kopitiam left in Singapore.

Very long never drink this liao. I almost never drink hot but this was still quite good.

Such a old school place, feel so nostalgic sitting here and eating my kaya toast.

To fully immerse yourself in this experience of nostalgia, I suggest u sit facing internal of the coffee shop. The shop is filled with old shelves, public telephone, smoke stained walls and ceiling.

Kaya toast was toasted with charcoal.

Please be prepared to queue and be patient, uncle old already, don't pressure him.

Please don't come here when u are short of time, choose a leisure time to visit please.

Heard from other reviews that the waiting time could reach up to 1 hour. And inside kinda hot and stuffy.

2 soft boil egg, 1 kaya toast, 1 teh, total $3.40.
