Heng Heng Hong Kong Roasted Delight

Came to the coffee shop and there was long queue at the noodles stall and the braised duck stall. But remembered this roasted meat stall has got good reviews from other burpple users so we decided to give it a go.

While the meats taste ok, there's really nothing special to deem this place as "hidden gem" or "underrated". We've definitely had better meats elsewhere before that's got perfect fat to thin meat ratio - the meats here got a bit too little fats.

This is good for people living around that area, just not the kind that I will go out of the way for.

Honestly I'd think the other stalls are the real hidden gems. The customers seem to be mostly older generation, so I guess they must be good to have regular customers who are willing to queue for them.

Glad to discover Heng Heng Hong Kong Roasted Delight, a Hong Kong style roast meats stall in a coffeeshop, within walking distance from NEX Shopping Mall. The Roast Duck is well-seasoned, flavourful and not gamey, while the Char Siew is nicely caramelised and has a good fats to meat ratio! The Roast Pork pales slightly in comparison compared to those two, but is still a decent option nonetheless. I would also suggest pairing the meats with the springy noodles rather than the standard white rice. Definitely an underrated gem in the Serangoon area!

The noodles were equally amazing too, neither dry and clumpy nor soggy despite having travelled for a while to my place. It was the right level of springy and I added my own sambal for an added shiok-ness to go with the char siew! I'm not a big fan of roast duck but theirs is definitely better than what my family usually gets, with my brother announcing that this shall be the new place he gets his roast duck fix from now on 😉 Wash all that grease down with their complimentary soup of the day which they rotate on a daily basis!

True to my Cantonese roots, I only enjoy Char Siew made the Cantonese way - thick, sweet, sticky and striking a balance between fats and meat though I love it when I spot those heart cloggingly fatty ones with lesser meat HAHA 😂 the typical thinly sliced ones from wanton noodles pales in comparison to this - juicy on the inside with lovely charred and crusty bits on the outside.

Other than the fishball noodles, popiah and braised duck, there is also Heng Heng Roasted Delights, a Hong Kong roast meat stall that you should check out. Their top seller is the caramelised char siew followed by the roasted duck to go with your choice of rice or noodles. The char siew is not the typical dry and dye-coloured mediocre ones that you get outside but this version is more towards the Cantonese roast that has a sticky consistency with a balanced ratio of fats and meat. You will get both the sweet and savoury flavours when you bite into it. The roasted duck on the other hand, has been marinated with a secret spice mix and roasted till the skin is crispy. Definitely restaurant quality but you can get it now at a fraction of the price.

🤤❤️ Mouthwatering roasted duck & char siew.

🤩I tried the roast duck and char siew from @hengheng.roasted.delights .The roasted duck 🦆 was excellent, tender & moist, and definitely not fatty. Great flavor and crisp skin.

🔥Char siew had yummy caramelised charred bits and had a good balance of fats and meat, but not overly fatty which I like. Nice and smoky. Eat this with sweet sauce and the chilli provided. Was surprised that their complimentary soup of the day was really good too!

You can enjoy the meats with rice or noodles, and prices are pretty affordable 🤩.
