When you want to eat something sinful and yet healthy (the vegetable is the healthy one 😅), you come to this stall... add more hum, please ?
Some say the greens make you feel healthier eating one of Singapore's oiliest dishes, but overall they don't add anything to this version. The kway teow itself... Decent lor.
Probably the only char kway tiao that has a heap of boiled vegetables on top! Not too oily, salty, sweet! With the fresh mustard vegetables on top, it makes this dish less sinful.
Total damage: $3.00
This lard free char kuay teow two MRT stops away from NUS is a good treat for some who are sick of the food in school canteens! The chye sim was juicy and the chye Poh made this char kuay teow awkwardly healthy and tasty. The vegetables taste so good that I finished them all up even before those cockles. The cockles were pretty big and fresh and a generous amount was given for a $5 serving! It's a quite unique rendition of char kuay teow and I am sure to bring some of my exchange students friends here to try it out!
Prices here ranges from $3/$4/$5/$7. The Char Kway Teows here are topped with generous amounts of chye sim that can be compared to 91 Fried Kway Teow. Although lard isn't used in the frying process, this plate of Char Kway Teow ($4) still tasted great and comes with a mild but distinct wok hei taste, sweet and comes in an abundance of bean sprouts and cockles.
