I like their porridge. Can taste each grain of rice. Not hard but also not soggy like the Cantonese version. Loads of dishes to choose from. Even have fresh cockles.
I’ll be back.
Without the fan. #dietlife
But pretty decent stuff there, just avoid the braised dishes, those are a tad too salty without porridge/rice
BILL: $11 for these
REMARKS:
The three veg dishes here are worth ordering again. Meat was a bit tough.
We kinda over-ordered (for 3 pax) and ended up having to dabao leftover dishes.
The potato, prawn paste chic and the eggplant tasted good, but the green veggie was too salty for our liking.
This meal costs ~$26, too pricey imo.
I prefer this outlet to the other one at Serangoon. The environment is much airy & the staff is so so friendly & helpful. This particular male staff makes effort to attend to the dishes on the table to ‘chase’ away the hungry birds while the customers went off to buy drinks. Great service! Happy customers are returned customers 😀
It's better to go early if you plan to have dinner during a weekend at "Heng Long Teochew Porridge". Otherwise once the crowd hits, the popular dishes go very quickly.
I find that the taste of the dishes has improved tremendously in comparison to the first few weeks of their opening. When I visited back then, the experience was a lot less satisfactory.
FYI - they also offer freshly-streamed fish for those who hanker after something cooked only upon order.
(Open daily from 10.30am to 4.30am).
