It has been a long time since I last ate Lo MAI Gai (Steamed glutinous rice with chicken, $2.20), which used to be my common breakfast/lunch as a child so it does bring some nostalgia. πππ
.
Itβs always a tough choice choosing between this & Fan Choy, with both ranking high on my to-eat list! π Usually it depends on my hunger level for the day - I will go for the latter as it is bigger in portion. As I was just feeling a little peckish from a late breakfast, I opted for the former this time round! π
.
Do not belittle this little snack/meal - every bite is an explosion of flavours with good layering of textures. βββ Featuring a slab of tender & juicy chicken atop a bed of glutinous rice, the succulent chicken which boasts of natural sweetness poses a seamless contrast to the chewy & grainy glutinous rice that is full of savoury flavours with a tinge of pepper. ππ» A perfect marriage of the two!
.
A simple yet delish light meal that captured my heart & tummy! πππ Have a good breakfast friends! π
Gooey Century Egg Lean Meat Congee with Lotus Leaf Rice and Beancurd Skin Roll
As described. No surprises.
Short but fat. Not crispy but filled with turnip.
Loving these char siew baos! πππ The dough might seem a bit thick compared to the filling but i didnt mind them cuz they were soft & fluffy!! Liked how they remained moist & pillowy after steaming! π
.
The star would have to be the CHAR SIEW filling! I can never really resist them; be it in steamed buns, crusty buns, breads or pastries, I LOVE THEM ANYWAY! β€ The smokey roasted aroma adds so much brownie points to the already alluring sweet & savoury BBQ pork.. tender bits of a balanced lean-fat ratio is key too! βπ»
.
Perfect brekkie when paired with some teh tarik! πππ So mini in size that i hav to eat at least 2!
.
Happy mid-week friends! π
