Small rojak @ $3

Came for the popiah but there's no more at 6pm, so had the rojak instead. The amount of sauce and peanuts is generous and it tastes so good that I have to scoop up as much as I can with the ingredients. Wish there's a bit more fried fritters though or maybe I should have ordered the medium size one (there's medium @ $4 and large @ $5).

Hope to be able to try their popiah next time!

2 for $3
1 for $1.60

This popiah, which is thicker than some I've had before, is on the moister side. Aunty puts quite a bit of sweet dark sauce.

Have been a patron since about 10 years ago and am now sort of friends with the stall co-owner (the aunty) who is friendly if you get to know her. Say hi to her!! :)

Have tried the rojak before some time ago. Not bad either! Try both the popiah and rojak here.

When a dish is seen on almost every table in a hawker centre, you know you have to try it for yourself. Hock Le Xiang offers light bites like popiah ($1.50) and rojak, but what Burpple Tastemaker Kenneth Lee recommends is the freshly made Rojak (from $3), which is as good as he remembers it to be from his childhood. Expect crisp you tiao, cucumbers and turnips generously tossed together in a dark glossy prawn paste, along with a shower of ground peanuts on the top. It's a great midday snack or a dish to share when eating in a group!
Avg Price: $5 per person

This outlet douses the ingredients with a good amount of sauce and they're so generous with the peanuts. The youtiao's texture could be more consistent but it's still yummy.

Comes in portions of $3/4/5 and this stall also offers popiah.

Bought this from a rather angry looking lady manning the popiah side of Hock Le Xiang. I saw her packing things so I politely ask if they are still open (even though it’s 1.10pm). She muttered something unintelligible so I proceeded to place my order for one popiah with chilli, having it there.

She proceeds to make my popiah and next thing I know, she hands me this plate with one popiah cut into three pieces. Who cuts one popiah into three large and unmanageable mouthfuls? The popiah is also so badly rolled, it crumbles into various pieces as you try to pick up with chopsticks. I ended up having to sweep the pieces into my mouth as it was easier. Taste wise, it’s very normal.

Never again.

$3 for a plate of Rojak with a wide variety of ingredients like cucumber, pineapple, turnip, crispy fried you tiao, tau pok, bean sprouts tossed in a thick sauce and finished with crunchy peanuts! However the sauce was too slightly on the sweeter side. Not for the health-conscious!
