PRICE: $6 for charsiew siobak rice

"I think this is the best charsiew I've eaten," he said. "The siobak is nice but normal."

Stellar wonton mee from this famous roast meat stall as usual. Surprised with the amount of char siew they gave today, for just $5 too. Nice char and smokiness with a little fat to add flavour. Noodles are springy but also a little wet from the sauce.

Not exactly cheap but hey! It’s for a variety - Char Siew, Sio Bak and Roast Duck.

My preference has always been:-
Char Siew > Roast Duck > Sio Bak

And today, 88 Hong Kong Roast Meat Specialist’s Sio Bak was so freakin good?
It has a good amount of meat in each bite,
the fats just melts in your mouth,
the skin is so crispy and fragrant???
Hands down to the Best Sio Bak I’ve had.

The Roast Duck and Char Siew were okay. I’ve had better ones. I like that the Char Siew is sweet and charred. And the chilli on the side was really not bad, quite spicy and goes well with the meats.

𝘾𝙝𝙖𝙧 𝙎𝙞𝙚𝙬 𝙒𝙖𝙣𝙩𝙤𝙣 𝙉𝙤𝙤𝙙𝙡𝙚𝙨 (~$4.50)— One word: indulgent. With layers of melt-in-your-mouth fattiness embedded within the fibrous lean meat, this char siew had both soft and hard textures to it. Its shiny sweet exterior gave the perfect minor crunch before you sink your teeth into the inner layers.🍖

The wantons were sufficiently meaty without the whole over the top wanton skin, allowing you to appreciate the meat rather than its covering. 🥟

As for the noodles, I liked how QQ it was, though the chilli got me 🤪

Looking at this photo makes me wanna head right back to this place. I dare say this is is amongst the best char siew & roast meat in SG. It’s an unassuming little store nestled in a coffee shop, but the queue quickly grew long while we were there. This plate of assorted meat (we swapped out the roast duck for more char siew) was $17. It was every bit worth it & the fats were melt-in-your-mouth amazing. I’m already looking forward to coming back here again!

The char siew was gloriously fatty and not too sweet, and the roast pork has a crispy cap and moist.
I ordered a wanton noodle too, which was ok but not earth shattering.
I was early so there were only a few in the queue, but at about 1230, a crowd formed.
It’s a coffee shop so no space for social distancing when queuing or when eating, and I wish the cashier didn’t let out a cough because he wasn’t wearing a mask, but otherwise, it was a delicious experience!
