Lol). Soaking it into their refillable peppery BKT soup really brings out the good taste of the broth. The ribs are normal, but on lucky days you get the tender ones π Their set ($11.10++) comes with a cup of rice and tau huey (really nice also) as well. One of our go-tos during rainy days (and just because thereβs not much options near our workplace π€·π»ββοΈ)
Hougang mall branch: Never a fan of bak kut teh due to the often dry meats and terribly oily soups. Settled for this place as Soup restaurant had a queue. Was plesantly surprised by it!
Rating: 7.9/10
Will i return/recommend: Yes/Yes
Pros: Efficient staffs. The soup has really nice flavour but too peppery for me, pork ribs were meaty not just scrawny bones. It was really tender as well. Enjoyed all the dishes i had - pork ribs soup, preserved veg, braised pork rice.
Cons: Nothing fancy here
Price: S$18.50 for everything shown, there was 1-for-1 promo for pork rib soup
This Old Street Bak Kut Teh combo ($11.10+ only!) is just perfect for the rainy day. The set comes with bak kut teh, you tiao and tau huey. The soup is on the good peppery side, and served with generously meaty ribs. Wasn't used to this type of BKT as the one in KL is savoury but this is really nice, I must say. Don't forget to soak your you tiao to the soup; the absorbed taste is just the best. Their tau huey is perfect too for not sweet tooth people like me. ππ»
Btw, Hougang's branch still has its 1 for 1 promotion for M-F, making it a better deal π
Their pork trotter ($10) are worth it too. Just the right amount of fats (we call it collagen) over meat ratio-M
Meat is tender but soup abit bland. The ζ²Ήζ‘ is made in house and comes across as decent. Pricey.
