Previously located at Great World City, House on the Moon is back at it after taking a short hiatus ever since they had moved out of their former premises — they have since moved to GR.iD along Selegie Road, which houses other F&B establishments such as Isshin Machi, OOTB, Shinsho Ramen and Chops! Grills and Sides amongst others. Still being the open kitchen concept where patrons sit around the counter that surrounds all the action happening in the kitchen, House on the Moon has extended their menu to include sous vide meats and pastas, alongside their signature plated desserts with tea pairings and tarts that were previously available at their Great World City location.

The Moon Walk was a dessert which we had tried during our visit to their Great World City outlet when they had first opened their doors back then — this is essentially the same as what it was; features elements such as Yogurt, Nut Butter and Coconut. A dessert that is conceptualised by Chef Juan Amandor of Alma by Juan Amandor and Hüseyin Turan of House on the Moon, this is a dessert that was easy to have; one that combines the use of more neutral flavour profiles such as coconut and vanilla alongside crumbles, white chocolate bits and nut butter, as well as yogurt that provides for tang that gives a contrast of flavours to the dessert — one that is rather soothing without any heavier elements such as chocolate or berries, yet being sufficiently rich and creamy. Those smooth textures are complimented with the crunch from the crumbles, and some fluffy elements such as the yogurt-infused bits of cake included — all that pairing well with the tea that accompanied the dessert which carries notes of coconut and cream within.

It is pretty interesting how House on the Moon has settled themselves in this corner of the island — somewhat of a gem in the area considering how most of the eateries around this area doesn’t have quite the focus that they share; more catered towards the mass market than gourmands. That being said, I really like how they are able to show adaptability in the presentation of their plated desserts in tart form — allowing patrons to have the experience of the plated dessert that is usually suited for dine-in in a takeaway-friendly format. House on the Moon is a spot that is worth making the trip for those who are looking for plated desserts — there aren’t many places around that serves desserts this way, and this makes them pretty unique as an F&B establishment that revolves themselves around such a theme.

Update: gotta give credit where credit is due. Good marketing scam. "Best cheesecake in town" with a price tag to match. I was sold. Nvm I'll just think of it as taking one for the team #teamburpple

Nonetheless I'm a fan of Alma so the Alma collaboration dessert might still be good. I'm the fool for not choosing their signature

With(tasteless) tea pairing

Pretentious. The cheesecake was unique in that it had a butter cookie taste, but that was balanced by the lack of a normal cheesecake taste lol. Much rather have a slice from Henri Charpentier next door, for a quarter of the price. The sour accompaniment didn't mesh with this at all.

Overpriced af esp considering the ambience or lack thereof, it's in a shopping centre with people walking past consistently

Most importantly it isn't even that good as a cheesecake or as a dessert

Rant:
Fine dining can be intimidating for most people who feel like they are "inexperienced" and "can't appreciate the food". Ya well nonetheless you should voice your opinion, please don't think just cos the food isnt to your taste it's your fault for being unable to appreciate. Sometime it honestly just sucks lol, you deserve to have something good, something you enjoy if you're paying that kind of money. And don't be afraid to come across as an idiot(who can't appreciate fine dining) because again, you're already paying that kind of money, why "lose" the money just cos you're paiseh? Good food is good food, I think sometimes even if it's not up your alley u can tell it's a lot of effort, the execution is good, someone else might be able to appreciate it etc. So if it's actually bad feel free to let everyone know about it also.

House on the Moon is a contemporary fine-dining dessert bar that pushes culinary boundaries with its curated desserts. Indulge in the Kalea 65, which is one of the best cheesecakes i’ve tasted so far! The taste is so rich and creamy with a thick centre that flows out as you pierce through the burnt centre! This is best paired with mango or passion fruit tea!

And to think this was created mistakenly by a drunken chef for an after party on street 65 (hence the name) in Sri Lanka... a drunken mistake that resulted in the best cheesecake in town!

This luxe dessert bar in Great World City is the brainchild of multi-Michelin stars Chef Juan Amador and his protégé, Hüseyin Turan. All desserts can be paired with tea specially curated and blended for each dessert. Choose the refreshing and tangy Moon Walk ($25 for a plated dessert and tea pairing) featuring spongecake, crumble, yogurt, nut butter and coconut. Also good is their non-creamy take on the St Sebastian cheesecake KALEA65.

From House on the Moon; a new dessert bar which had opened its doors fairly recently at Great World City. Serving up plated desserts at their space at Level 1 of the mall, their space at Level 2 offers the same items available at Level 1 for takeaway.

Collaborating with Chef Juan Amador of Michelin-starred Alma by Juan Amador, the Moon Walk (also the signature here) features elements such as Yogurt, Nut Butter and Coconut, and comes with its own tea pairing of a Coconut, Cream Tea. A pretty refreshing dessert, this was a dessert that carried a light flavour profile and a light, tangy note; particular of that from the yogurt elements. Featuring a multitude of textures, the dessert hits the senses all in the right notes; cool and smooth ice-cream, creamy mousse layers, fluffy sponge, crumbles for a buttery crunch while the white chocolate helps to add a crisp, shattering sweetness, this was an item that tickles the taste buds — not too heavy, yet very well-designed to give just that right contrast and balance in terms of texture. Hoping to see the folks behind House on the Moon come up with more plated desserts — a very rare destination within a shopping mall, and a spot I will gladly make a trip down to Great World City for an accessible experience almost akin to that of fine-dining, be it in terms of presentation of food and its service.

I am! Nothing beats having a sweet ending to your meal.

Featuring the beautiful desserts from @houseonthemoon_official
They curate desserts from chefs who are recognised in
the Michelin Guide. This is a collaborative project with
multi-Michelin stars Chef Juan Amador and his
protégé, Hüseyin Turan.
Their tea-master and chef have specifically blended tea,
tea ales and ice-creams to pair with the desserts, but each can also be enjoyed on its own.

I love their Moonwalk dessert the most. Conceptualised by Juan Amador and HĂĽseyin Turan
especially for House On The Moon.
It is Creamy and Refreshing. It is simply a work of plated art! A great place to chill with dessert and tea pairing.
